Color Me Pretty

I saw this gem in my People Style Watch (one of my fave indulges) and went straight to Sephora's website to take a closer look.Color Play - 5 in 1 It's the from the Sephora collection. Now, although I love me a pretty palette (see here, here and here), I've never been fond of big beauty kits like this one. Although they make a great gift for others and are perfect for people new to make-up, I've never thought the quality was all too great. Disclaimer- I've never had a beauty kit from a big brand either. So, I think I'm going to have to check this one out.

The best part of this kit is that it's made up of five smaller ones that you can pop out and take with you in your bag for touch ups. AWESOME. Who wants to lug around a huge case everywhere? I wasn't able to get pics of the individual pallettes, but here's the description from the website:

Each look has its own unique name and color array:
- Dinner in Paris: Grays and blacks
- Coffee in New York: Browns
- Shopping in Milan: Purples and pinks, green
- Tango in Buenos Aires: Blues and greens
- Clubbing in Tokyo: Baby blues, pinks, and yellows

You can check it out and purchase the item online here and can really see how pretty the colors are. Each palette consists of 10 eyeshadows, 2 lip colors, and 1 blush. Not bad!

Have you tried Sephora brand make-up before? My only experience has been with their face primer-which I really like and have bought repeatedly. Have you tried their holiday pallettes? Have you had any luck?

Celeb Inspiration: Kate Beckinsale

So I'm pretty sure, nearly 100%, that Kate Beckinsale is every girl's crush. If not for fashion or beauty for her drop dead gorgeous locks at least. This chica has it going on. I think there's very few people who are as chic as her and always looks put together. I mean, she looks smoking in a beanie....a freaking beanie people!! Looking through her photos (there's tons btw) I've noticed a few things about her style that I consider to be her staple: shiny curly locks- her hair always has some bounce to it, eye liner, pink cheeks and pout, bronzed face, and uber high heels.

Casual Looks- not only can you see what I believe to be her staples in use here, she also wears clothes that fit well and show off her great body. Some of these looks can easily be copied and when in doubt- wear sexy shoes! Having the right shoe can really take an outfit from so-so to ooh la la. I'm really going to consider this the next time I want to wear flats, "just think Kate" will have to be my new mantra.

Red Carpet- Green, black, and white seem to be her go-to colors don't they? Seriously, I think she would look great in any color. She keeps her hair relatively simple with great curls or and easy up do. Could anyone make a ponytail look any better? Also, her dresses, although always gorgeous, are pretty effortless. Rarely do you see her in tons of fabric or intricate detailing, but instead great draping and flattering to her silhouette. Kate also keeps her accessories pretty minimal with some dangling earrings and a statement cuff.

Coley had suggested Kate on my last Celeb Inspiration: Lea Michele, and I couldn't have agreed more! Who else do you think should be featured? Are there any guys that fit the bill?

Product Review: L'Oreal Go 360 Clean

I'm sure you lovelies have tried this by now, read some reviews for it, or at least have seen the gorgeous Freida Pinto in the commercials for it. It's available in four formulas for all skin types, Deep Facial Cleanser + one for sensitive skin, Deep Exfoliating Scrub (the smell is delicious!), and Deep Cream Cleanser. The two above are the ones I've been using for over a month now.

From the website, the products promise the following:
1. Smaller pores- I don't really have an issue with my pores, so I haven't noticed a difference. If this is a concern for you, I think this product will be beneficial because of the scrublet. Since it cleans deep into your skin without being harsh, I think the cleanser + scublet will work to decrease the appearance of your pores.
2. Deeper cleansing- I've definitely seen a difference from using the "scublet" vs. my hands. At first, I felt that my face kind of broke out (luckily I didn't have any big zits, just come smaller pimples that weren't a big deal), but after using it for a few weeks I've noticed that my skin has improved. I think that the cleanser was getting deeper into my skin than ones in the past, which could have caused the initial reaction.
3. Softer skin- I moisturize everyday, so this wasn't an issue for me either. It is gentle enough to use everyday and it definitely hasn't dried my skin out, which has been a concern for me with other cleansers. I have heard that the green Deep Facial Cleanser has dried skin out for some, probably from the mint in it, so I would suggest that particular wash for oily skin types.

Overall, I think this is a pretty good product. It's been the best drug store wash I've tried for everyday use. I really really love the scrublet. It's so gentle, and really gets the dirt/oil/makeup off. Plus, it's perfect for jump starting your circulation in the morning. The scrublet is a great alternative to the Clarisonic Brush that I'm dying to have, but can't justify the price tag for. Even if I end up not using this wash in the future, I'm definitely holding onto the scrubber.

Have you tried this cleanser yet? What did you think of it? Is there another wash I need to be using??

The Birthday Bash

This weekend the BF and I celebrated our birthdays together at Roscoe's Deli. We had such a great time! Our friends and famiy came out and it was so much fun. We are so blessed to be surrounded by such wonderful people. I wish I could include all of the pictures, but there were tons, so here's just a few. Thank you to everyone who came!!

For my outfit, after this post, I ordered the black one-shoulder ruffle romper...and it was not attractive. For the Victoria Secret dresses, they didn't get great reviews and a couple of readers had different things to say about their experience with VS clothes, so I decided to skip them. I instead wore this Lulu's dress with my Nine West wedges.

Hayden, the Beauty Chameleon

Hayden has changed her hair again this year! That's more than some women in a decade! She started with long (and sometimes cropped) blonde locks to sultry red, and now she's back to blonde with a super courageous crop. The short hair really accentuates her amazing bone structure, I'm interested to see how she styles it. I do love lush long hair, but short hair has a spot in my heart. She's so beautiful, I think she rocks all the looks, but I love her hair when it's long.

What's your favorite? Would you ever dare to change your hair so drastically?

Mmmmm You Smell Pretty

I wear perfume everyday, some I use more than others, and some I wear only on special occasions. When I first started to wear perfume, once I finished a bottle I'd be done with it. I'd be so over the scent I still can't wear some of them today. Then there's the few disappointments that at first smelled great, but after time you realized you just smelled like an old lady and only use the bottle now for decoration or paper weights.

I have found a few that are tried and true. Here are the few that have made the cut and I've continued to buy repeatedly:
Daisy by Marc Jacobs I wear most often, it's a light scent of violets, strawberries, jasmine, and vanilla.

J'Adore by Dior I wear often too, but usually when I'm feeling extra special or have a particularly cute outfit on. It's very feminine and sultry scent of white magnolias, Calabrian bergamot, citrust, and rose.

Issey Miyake is my special night scent. It's a little strong than the others and I save it for big nights out. It's scent is floral with lotus, cyclamen, freesia, and a musky wood.

I've worn all three of these for years now and have received numerous compliments on them. I'll probably still be wearing them when I am an old lady!

What are your favorite scents? Have you picked up any new ones?

Get out!

Leighton Meester is rumored to be hooking up with Rob Pattinson now that she and her ex-bf Sebastian Stan are over. Rob has allegedly been seen coming and going from her apartment, often times with an over night bag (ps, what guy- who's not your bf- brings an overnight bag??)

Do you think it's true? Do you like them as a couple? Would would you like to see them paired up with?

I think they make an awkward couple and can't envision them together, he seems to quiet and disheveled to be with her.
