Product Review: Hollywood Fashion Secrets

The peeps over at Hollywood Fashion Secrets contacted me about doing a review for some of their products, and having used some of their goodies in the past, I hopped right on board to try more. They sent me out a few items and I wanted to share with you guys how great they are!

The first product I tried out was their Hollywood Fashion Tape which is a life saver. In college I used to wear hoochie mama outfits (one of which was deemed my K.Lo dress, thank goodness I've grown up a bit) and would have to use double sided tape to keep my goodies covered. Have you ever tried it? Um, no. After dancing and sweating, the tape wears off and is useless. Where the H was this tape??

I tested it for a night out with my friends and we danced all night long in the corner table next to the dj. We were sweating and gross from all the heat and this tape didn't poop out! I used it to keep my shirt from falling off my shoulder, it had a wide neck, but not wide enough to actually wear off my shoulder, and this tape kept it perfectly in place, despite my wild dance moves. I was shocked, I'm definitely taking this tape on all future Vegas trips and I may just be busting out some of my college oldies soon. Seriously, this stuff is the bomb. Buy it, no amount of double sided tape could even compare to this gem. Oh and also?, it didn't even hurt when I took it off!! Total score, I couldn't be happier with the product.

Boot Straps, ok, this is one product I didn't even know existed! I hate having to be restricted to wearing only skinnies with boots, and I have tucked my boot-cut jeans into my socks to keep them together, but then I just stretch out my socks. Lose-lose. Um, in walk these guys and situation settled. It was a bit awkward in getting them situated, but they totally did the trick. Now I'm rocking my all my jeans tucked into my boots. Go me!

You can find either of these babies, plus lots of other great items, on their site and they are available at different shops (which you can find near you on their site)

Have you tried their products before? What did you try and what was your experience? I've used their petals before and was equally happy with them as I am with these.

Nordstrom Rack: Lily White Top and  Fire Jeans

I found and bought some colored denim! Whoop whoop! I went back to Nordstrom Rack and found these cute aqua/mint jeans. I love them and can't wait to wear them a variety of ways from this How To Wear Bright Denim post. I felt like I may be too old to wear colored jeans, because it's such a HUGE trend here for high schoolers for a long time, but then I saw two other girls that night with the same colored jeans on. Then I felt hip again.

Bright Denim: How To Wear It

I'm obsessed with colored denim. I want several colors for this spring/summer. If you follow me on Twitter, you'll already know that I found the cutest hot pink pair ever at Nordstrom Rack ($30!!), but the only pair in my size had a hole. I'm going to check out another one to see if I can find them, otherwise I'll just have to "settle" on mint, cobalt, or lavender. Colored denim though is everywhere at every price point, Target, Forever 21, Nordstrom, and Macy's all have them so I'm sure I'll get over the hot pink pants loss.

When trying on the pants, you may wonder how the H are you going to wear them? You don't want to be constricted by wearing the same ensemble each time you venture out with them. Fortunately, colored denim is super versatile!

First, classic neutrals. This is the obvious one. Don't be afraid to spice it up with some fun accessories, layered necklaces, blazers, scarves or bright shoes.

Don't think you can rock bright pants and prints together? Think again sister. Okay, I know the second pic is a skirt and not pants, but I think it's a perfect example.

Oh, and good old chambray works with any color and is easy to pair with lots of jewelry.

Are you going to be rocking the trend this year? What colors do you like? How are you styling yours?

Product Review: Sephora Moonshadow Baked Palette

Sephora Moonshadow Baked Palette - In The Nude

I bought this palette a few months ago during the Sephora Friends and Family, see my other goodies here. All of these colors are so gorgeous, I really love all the shimmer too. The shadows are baked, so you can use them wet or dry, but I have yet to try them wet.

Here's some swaps, first pic is the top row and the second pic is the bottom row.
(no flash)

The colors aren't very pigmented, so you can build to your color. This palette would be fantastic for people who are eyeshadow novices, or don't like dramatic shadows. This is also perfect for any eye color and skin tone.

I don't use it as often as my Urban Decay Naked Palette (see my review here), but this palette gets a lot of mileage. The colors last my work shift, but need some touching up if I'm going out. They work best with a primer to keep it from fading and creasing during the day.

Overall, I really like this palette, it's perfect for an easy light wash of color and for a smoky look. If I had to choose between this and the UD Naked, I'd definitely choose the Naked because the colors are more pigmented and offer a wider variety. It's an awesome price point though at $28.

Have you tried baked eyeshadow before? What about this palette?

OOTD

I saw this outfit on Pinterest from Devon Rachel (such fantastic style! I've been stalking her blog since I've seen this pic).

I love that her outfit is perfect for summer, but it was raining over here, so I had to winterize it a bit with tights and boots instead. I'm now on a mad hunt for some bright florals.

Here's how I wore it:
F21 dress and belt
Mossimo tights
Steve Madden boots

Now, obviously I need to a) stop taking pics with my phone and b) teach my husband better photography skills (I swear it looked better in person....and my face wasn't so washed out).

Sweet and Crunchy

For the Superbowl I made this yummy snack I found on Pinterest from Bakergirl. It was delicious! It was super sweet though.

Here's the recipe:

1 bag of popcorn, popped
8 ounces of white chocolate candy coating, melted (I used melting chips from Michaels craft store...IDK if there's a difference)
4 heaping teaspoons of yellow cake mix
Mini M&Ms (I had a difficult time finding these and almost went with regular M&Ms and I'm so glad I didn't! The size would be too much. Definitely use the minis!)
Assorted sprinkles

Pop popcorn and spread out on a paper towel, removing any kernels or burnt pieces, and place in a large bowl. Mix in mini M&Ms.

Melt white chocolate in the microwave in 30 second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth. Stir in cake mix until smooth, then stir in about 3 teaspoons of sprinkles. Immediately pour over popcorn. Using a wooden spoon, mix the popcorn and M&Ms until completely coated.

Pour out onto wax paper or into a wax-paper lined jelly roll pan and spread into a single layer. Sprinkle with sprinkles until festive, then let cool and harden. Break into pieces and enjoy!

It's pretty simple to make it, but mixing the chocolate over the popcorn was kind of difficult. I tried doing it across a cookie sheet, but the popcorn kept falling over the sides and then I tried mixing a little bit at a time in a big bowl and that worked a little bit better.

Next time I make it, I'm going to add something crunchy like pretzel sticks or Chex cereal. I also think it would be good to do a drizzle of milk chocolate on the top.

Mmmmmm...maybe I'll make it again today.
