Betty Crocker Strikes Again!

Since most of my culinary skills are limited (to say the least- my best creations are Jello shots) I have tried to domesticate myself so that my BF will know that if we choose to spend our lives together he will not starve to death or die of an overdose of PB&Js.

This year, I decided it was time that I start contributing to Thanksgiving and needed to bring some item that was digestible for all and not those over the tender age of 21. That's when I found these cute cupcakes here and started baking. The BF and I had a great time and they were a huge success at the party! My Mom has always made cupcakes out of an ice cream cone, so I did have some previous experience with this. The few things I did differently is use an aluminum pan for turkeys so I could bake 16 at a time and it would be deep enough for them to sit straight up and I used icing instead of dipping it into chocolate because I didn't have any melting chips like I thought and didn't want to wrestle some lady at the store at 10PM the night before Thanksgiving.

How was your Thanksgiving? Does your family cook or go out to eat? Are you in charge of anything for the day?

I Left My Heart in Sacramento...Err, I Mean San Francisco

Earlier this year my BFF S (isn't her hair gorgeous??) from high school up and moved to Nor Cal and left me devastated for the pursuit of higher education (she's got beauty and brains). I was in utter dismay! She's my bestie and my first friend I made when I moved here from little old Utah. However, being the great friend that I am, I booked a flight to visit her before she even moved.

It was such a great trip! We were up at the crack of dawn and walked everywhere in our beloved Rainbow Sandals. First, we went to Old Town Sac where we shopped and ate tons of candy. Check out this store, it took all of my might to not just start shoveling the pieces in my mouth.

Next we went to see our Capital, however, Arnold was not in to say hello too. Yes, we seriously asked with a straight face to the burly security guard. I must say that our state capital is gorgeous! The grounds were beautifully kept and had the coolest tree I had ever seen.

We also went to a Beer Fest which was so much fun! I suggest everyone should check one out sometime, especially if you're single because it's mostly all men. We saw these cool people who made necklaces from pretzels so they would have a snack right at their fingertips. It was genius!

Then we high-tailed it to San Francisco. It was kinda chilly, but we had a great time checking out the sites and taking the trolley everywhere.

I had a wonderful time and I can't wait to visit her again! She is was one the most wonderful people I have ever met. Her spirit is so strong and her faith inspires me. I am so blessed to have her in my life.

I'm In Love With White Dresses

I started noticing a trend in my picture file and it's white dresses. I adore white, it's one of my favorite colors and if I had to wear one thing for the rest of my life it would be a white v-neck tee I think.

White can definitely be worn year round, no more wearing it until Labor Day. The key to wearing white in the winter time is really paying attention to the material and weight of the item. Anything too thin should definitely be kept for the warmer months. Some of these pictures are from earlier this year, but could still totally be rocked this winter. An easy way to winterfy white is to add a cool jack- a leather one like Rumer Willis, add tights like Rose Byrne, or a heavy statement necklace a la Emma Roberts. Most of these ladies accessorized with black, but red, blue or even a pink would look fabulous too!

Nude is the New Black

PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
Nude mini dresses were a huge hit last night at the American Music Awards and they'll be seen all winter long this season. Nude works for all skin tones and hair color, but make sure not to be washed out with pop of color, either your accessories or lipstick. Make sure to wear nude shoes to really elongate your legs. Too shy to wear an all nude outfit because you feel naked? Start with just your lips or nails! My faves are MAC lipstick in Hue & their lipgloss in C-Thru, but some foundation & clear gloss work just as well!
Here are a few affordable ones:

Bubblegum Pop & Lingerie

Here is Bar Rafaelli modeling Passionata's newest collection. Doesn't she look stunning? I love how the pictures are so playful and fun! This would be a great idea for a gift for your hubby or bf....the lingerie or copying the photos of yourself I mean- not Bar herself.

Oh No! It's Catching On!

Photobucket
I may have to reconsider Rihanna as a style inspiration after this...and this....and this. I know she tries all kinds of new stuff and looks different all the time, and I commend her for that, but lately her style risks have flunked. Fanny packs are just a Don't in my book, regardless of who's wearing it or made it. I know they make sense- it keeps your hands free, but I'm going to still keep my fingers crossed that they disappear.

Whatever Ashley Greene is Eating/Drinking/Wearing- I Want Some!

Doesn't she look fab? I think she might be my new girl crush! I love her hair, clothes, and her makeup. She always looks so fresh and her skin is beautiful. Her casual outfit in the yellow dress I'm gonna have to recreate for myself!
