Product Review: e.l.f. Mineral Eyeshadow Primer

A few weeks ago, I bought a ton of stuff from e.l.f. (check out my shadow review and lipstick/lipgloss reviews from the haul) and one of them was the e.l.f. Mineral Primer ($1). Their Coffee Bean shadow lasts so long, I thought I’d have to really scrub it off at night when combined with their primer. That, however, was not the case. It somehow even seemed that the shadow lasted less time and creased more. After hours and hours of wear without any primer, the shadow did have some creases, but nothing scary. With the primer, my creasing was ridiculous- like entire gaps across my lid. I’m pretty bummed about their primer, but most of the products I’ve tried of e.l.f. have been fan-spranking-tastic so although I’d pass on buying this particular product again, I will still try more of their stuff. Luckily, Urban Decay Primer Potion is readily available and is the holy grail of lasting shadow (see my review here).

Have you tried the e.l.f. Mineral Primer? What was your experience? I’m wondering if maybe it was my application (I just put it on my lid, spread it evenly and gave it a minute to absorb) because my day wasn’t anything special, just a regular day spent in a freezer box of an office.

What primers do you swear by?

Everyday I'm Shuffling- Vegas Bach Party

Two weekends ago I went to Vegas to celebrate my Grand Big Sis' bachelorette party (check out her bridal shower). It was such a great time and so many memories were made! We stayed in the Penthouse suite of Planet Hollywood and it was incredible, larger than my place! It was really nice to have our own full-size kitchen and washer/dryer, plus a huge sitting area to house all the ladies comfortably, not to mention the four bedrooms and baths- incredible!

When we first got there (we left at 6am) we just headed straight to the pool to relax.

Later that night we had a table outside by the pool at Surrender Nightclub. Dancing outside is so much cooler than being inside (temperature-wise and otherwise) and our spot was prime for people watching.
The Bride and myself

Everyday we're shuffling...

The next day we had a table at Encore Beach Club (It's Surrender, but the day club/pool). It was perfect weather, the water was refreshing, and the drinks were smooth.

Club Pics

Surrender day and night it awesome, I can't wait to go back in October, I'm definitely taking the H there.

Her wedding is just a few weeks away and I'm so happy for her. Her and the Fiance are the perfect couple and I wish them nothing but happiness!

Where do you like to go in Vegas?

OPI Fall 2011 Collection is called Touring America with equally suitable and cute names and a large variety of colors from coral to moss green. Here's the collection (from L-R) Are We There Yet?, I Eat Mainely Lobster, My Address is "Hollywood", Color to Diner For, Honk if You Love OPI, Road House Blues, Suzi Takes the Wheel, French Quarter for Your Thoughts, Uh-oh Roll Down the Window, A-taupe the Space Needle, Get in the Expresso Lane, I Brake for Manicures. I checked this collection out in stores and liked some of the shades, but didn't fall in love with any and purchase them. My faves were French Quarter for Your Thoughts and Color to Diner For.

Which shades will you be wearing?

Thursday Poll

Hello everyone! In the past few months, I've used Thursdays to post about wedding ideas, both for my own wedding and for weddings in general. Now that my wedding is over I'm kind of wedding-ed out. I'm only interested in weddings of people I know now, whether my face-to-face friends or my internet and blog friends. Otherwise, I've kind of skipped the weddings posts on wedding blogs. From what I understand, most brides often feel this way and I'm hoping it subsides because I really love weddings, they're so beautiful and so much fun!

Until that happens, I'm looking for something new for my Thursday's theme and wanted to know if you ladies (and gents if you're out there) had any suggestions or preferences. Would you like to see more wedding stuff? Party ideas? Hair ideas? Fashion ideas? See what my fave weekly Pins are (from pinterest, if you don't know you need to hop on!)? Leave it open to my every whim?

Product Review: In the Mood Polish

Blissful, Curious, Devious
Hyper, Mellow, Flirty
 Naughty, Guilty, Ditsy

I first heard about In the Mood polish in InStyle and Glamour magazines and had to get my hands on some! We all know about my nail polish obsession... There's 9 colors available (and a 10th clear top coat) and change colors with temperature, whether it's you chilly office or your morning coffee and continue to change the entire time you wear the color.

To be 100% honest, I was doubtful on how great these would work. I've used some mood polish back in the day (like the 90s) and it was less than stellar.

Imagine my surprise when the polishes change color and are freaking awesome! I am so easily amazed by them and anytime they're changing, I have to show them to someone. The H is not so easily amused by this. Maybe the first or second time I showed him, but by the 67th time he was over it. When the polish changes, it looks similar to ombre which is a huge trend right now so I also feel super cool about it.

Here's Flirty in the process of changing colors,  you can see the ombre effect the polish can have

Here is Devious when it's warm (the light pink) and when it's cold (the dark purple).
You can really see the extreme color difference in these pics.

You need 2-3 coats to get an opaque color. When you're painting your nails, the color starts to change from the warmth of your nails, but one coat is very thin and sheer. The polish dries really quickly and dry matte so a glossy top coat is a must (maybe even 2 coats of clear).  The brush is very blunt and I wish it had a more round tip that was softer, it would make it much easy to paint your nails. They last a few days before chipping and the color changes really quickly, it's awesome to watch when you wash your hands. The colors change gradually, Devious changes from soft pink and gets darker and darker to the purple color, with a pretty lavender in the middle.

You can find the polish at In the Mood for $8 per bottle.

Have you tried color changing polish before? What about In the Mood polish?

The polish was provided by In the Mood, no monetary compensation was given and the review completely is my own opinion and experience.
