New Spring Inspiration Board

The heat in CA has been up and I've been wearing shorts every weekend, but it's still not "Spring". I haven't worn my new Go Jane wedges yet, even though I'm wearing flip-flops because I'm waiting to wear them with a Spring outfit.
I've been scouring my Nordstrom catalog along with my magazines and have finally put together my new inspiration board. I'm sure I'll be adding to it, right now it's mostly beauty-related things for make-up and hair, but I still wanted to share it with you.

Here's a shot of the whole thing:

Here's some close-ups of the board:

The top focuses on accessories- belting dresses, layering jewelry and different ways to wear scarves (Goodness I own enough of them). Then the middle, upper corner and bottom I have ways to change up your hair al la Whitney Port (remember her Beauty Inspiration post? Gorgeous!), a new nail look, tons of beauty trends I want to try, and some sunglasses I have my eye on (future post coming sone).

I think this board is perfect for this time of year because I can slowly bring on Spring trends before busting them all out at once in mid-February. Even though it is pretty warm here, I still don't want to wear something that could be deemed seasonally-inappropriate. I realize that fashion rules have evolved and I love Winter White, but some garments are too early to wear out sometimes, like lightweight sundresses. Please do not hold me to this because I'm keeping my right to change my mind at anytime. LOL. This time of year before Spring/Summer are really here I like to dress the part of the weather and wear a mix of Winter-Spring clothes Kramey Martin has geniusly dubbed Spri-nter.  For example, my light weight long sleeve with shorts I wore in this OOTD. Perfect Spri-nter outfit for CA!

Switching up my beauty routine to warmer colors, wearing bright lips, and changing my hair are easy switches that I plan on doing this month (and in the warmer seasons) to tide me over until I can officially bring out my Spring/Summer storage boxes of clothes and make the switch. If only it could hurry Mother Nature to bring on the heat!

What are you ladies doing in anticipation of Spring/Summer? From your blogs, I can see that you guys are as excited as I am, but I know many of you still have cold weather. I have a confession for you, since I grew up in Utah, I've never gotten over not having snow in wintertime (see my top 10 of both CA and UT here). All of your pictures that have snow in the background make my heart ache just a tiny bit. How are you divas doing in the cold? What are you looking forward to wearing?

What Should I Wear? Help style me!

At the end of the month, the BF and I are celebrating our birthdays together (they're only 5 days apart) with our friends and family at Roscoe's Famous Deli. It's a really fun place, but low key. I don't mind being overdressed since I am the birthday girl and all, but I can't be too over the top.

Here are some outfits I'm looking to check out:

Outfit 1: A cute Forever 21 top, American Eagle dark denim shorts (it's pretty warm here already and should be even warmer by the end of April), and my cute Nine West Spring Wedges:

Outfit 2: A casual dress from Victoria Secret with my wedges

Outfit 3: Cute dresses from Lulus, also worn with my wedges

Outfit 4: This cute romper from Dillards also worn with my wedges:

So lovelies, what do you think is the best pick? Do you like the ones I showed here, or do you have a better suggestion? I'm kind of leaning more toward the shorts and a cute top or a romper, but dresses are always in my heart and I love the ones above. Also, I know that technically, there's more than 3 outfits here, just let me know which style or particular item you like best.

Please help! I'm open to anything, not just what I have posted above. I'd love to hear your feedback! I'm also happy and appreciative of all questions, comments, concerns, or suggestions. Thank you so much!

Say It Isn't So!

Disney has approached Tim Burton to do a live action remake of Sleeping Beauty!! Can you believe it?? Aurora has always been my favorite Disney princess and favorite classic love story.

That being said...I don't know how I feel about it being remade....especially by Tim Burton. Can't Disney just leave perfection alone? I just hope Tim Burton sticks to the story and doesn't go off on a tangent with it.

Angelina Jolie is said to be up for the role of Maleficent and I haven't heard of any of casting rumors.
Have you heard anything about it? Who would your dream cast be?

Here's my list for possible actors (which was really hard to think of BTW):

Aurora- Blake Lively, Claire Danes, Dakota Fanning, Amanda Seyfried, Evan Rachel Wood
Prince Phillip- Zak Efron, Alexnder Skarsgard, Eric Bana, Emile Hirsch
The Fairy Godmothers; Flora, Fauna & Merryweather- Helen Mirren, Glenn Close, Julie Andrews, Rosie O'Donnell
Queen- Meryl Streep, Susan Sarandon,
King Stefan-Liam Neeson, Daniel Day Lewis
Maleficent- Cate Blanchett, Nicole Kidman

Alice in Wonderland Inspiration

With Alice in Wonderland coming out in just a few weeks, a couple of beauty lines have done themed collections to celebrate.

OPI has a collection of four polishes, available individually or in a package of the mini-size. It's a limited edition and the colors are Thanks So Muchness!, Mad as a Hatter, Absolutley Alice, and Off With Her Red!. I'm acutely obsessed with the Alice character and I can't wait to get my hands on them! I haven't been able to find them at my local beauty store and will have to start calling around for the availability. All Lacquered Up has a great review on them as well I suggest checking out.

Urban Decay is also doing a limited edition eye shadow book. It has a pop-up Alice scene on the top, and a drawer of 16 eye shadows with themed names, primer, and 2 eye pencils. I. Must. Have. This.
Eye shadow and Alice in one? Helllllllo, I'm so there!

Supercalifragilisticexpealidocious!

My friend A and I both love plays/musicals. Over the years, we've seen several together and I know I can always count on her to see anything that Julie Andrews has ever appeared in- she's one of our idols. We bought our tickets for this show like six months ago and I had been counting down the days.

It was everything I dreamed of and more. Mary Poppins is one of my favorite movies from when I was young and I know all of the songs by heart still ( they're on my I-pod). If the show if coming near you I highly suggest seeing it, it's worth every penny. The choreography was spectacular! Especially the Supercalifragilisticexpealidocious number, it was incredible!

Fall, Try as I might, You're Still Here

Summer is over, I'll be packing up my summer wardrobe by the end of the month. At least living in California I can get by wearing a lot of "summer" items still because it's so warm. Making the change to a fall wardrobe is so dreadful to me. I love the hot weather, being outside, and wearing minimal clothing. Since I'm not Mother Nature, fall is inevitable. There are a few things to look forward to though.... like shopping for new clothes, drinking spiced cidar, and new boots.

Here is my need/want/will die without shopping list:

· A white or grey fitted blazer that hits just below the front pockets of my pants (I ordered one today that I hope works)
· Black studded heels and bag (a less expensive version of the ones I’ve been pining for)
· A long sleeve mini-dress
· Versatile “flowy” shirts- I have what I want in my head, I just need to find them
· Purplish Berry Lipgloss (like Taylor’s)
· A white manicure with details on my ring fingers
· To the knee gray boots to replace my old ones
· Riding boots? Just maybe.
· Tiffany & Co Key Necklace
· Some fun bangles
· Dressy leggings that go to my ankle (I ordered some zipper detailed ones today with the blazer)

Here is what I'm looking forward to doing this fall:

· My trip up north to see my BFF S. - going shopping in San Fran, eating fresh clam chowder, and going to the brewfest.
· Seeing Legally Blonde the Musical (I’ve been waiting all year for this show!) and Mary Poppins (waiting all of my life for this one)
· Halloween- I’m trying to come up with a great group or couple theme this year where the BF doesn’t look “gay” (he used this term when I suggested we be sailors)

What are you looking forward to this fall? What is on your shopping list? Do you have any suggestions where I could find the above items? The plum/berry lipgloss is the one I'm having the most trouble finding. I want one that I can wear during the day and not feel comfortable wearing it with just all black.

Off with their heads!

New photos have been released for the Tim Burton remake of the classic film Alice in Wonderland! I'm so excited because 1. I love that movie 2. Anne Hathaway (who I adore), Johnny Depp, and Helena Bonham Carter are starring in it and 3. it's going to be released in 3D. However, it's going to be released March 5, 2010 though, so we'll have to wait. The story is slightly altered from the Disney film, Alice will be 17 and will be returning to Wonderland, but she doesn't remember ever being there before. Are you excited for the film?

What are you looking forward this summer?

At this time of year, I often question why I ever made the decision to become a big kid (oh yeah, because I graduated college and could not serve another plate of food to a customer before ripping of their head, not to mention health insurance and paid vacation days). Before my summers were spent laying by the pool listening to the best of Journey with a nice cold beer in my hand, going to Vegas nearly every weekend, and barbecuing in the backyard until the wee hours of morning.
Now I have only so many vacation days a year, so I must use them wisely.

Here's what I'm looking forward to this summer:

1. A bachelorette trip to Vegas with nearly all of my crazy girlfriends- hopefully I return with my liver, dignity, and some really great stories.

2. Several family BBQs- my aunt has a great party house w/pool tables, an amazing pool, backyard BBQ, a fire pit, and a trampoline. I love our family gatherings, I'm blessed with some really great relatives.

3. My sister's graduation- I get to see my family from Utah and finally go and visit her in Santa Barbara.

4. My BFF from grade school is coming to visit from Utah and bringing her husband and adorable children with her- Woohoo to beach trip and Disneyland!!

What about you darlings??
