With Spring less than 30 days away I thought I'd do some spring and summer trends to get us ready! This post is for fashion, but one for beauty is on its way! Here are some looks I'm really into this year and will be big this season.
Not all of this is in my price budget, but here are some items I'm keeping my eye out for when I go shopping. I like to cut out pictures and keep a list in my phone of items to add to my closet that will work with clothes I already have (gotta keep my savings resolution in line!) so I know what I need/want and don't just randomly buy stuff I'll only wear once.
Marc by Marc Jacobs "Flash- Leola" Hobo
If you see any knock-offs, please message me! I'm in love with this purse, but can't justify the price tag. Jen from The Look 4 Less has already sent me some cute inspired by bags, thanks again you're such a doll! Spring time is fun for accessories because color is always in. Having a Bright Bag is a great touch to any outfit and can definitely transform your outfit. Nude Purses (well anything neutral really)and Drawstring Bucket Bags will also be a huge hit this summer as well.
Michael Kors Resin Bracelet Watch
White is huge every summer and spring and I love how great White and Bright watches look. They match everything and add a touch of chicness to any outfit.
Tiffany & Co, Elsa Peretti Open Heart Hoop Earrings
Hoop earrings are a must! They look great year-round, but the warm weather always inspires me to wear more eye-catching accessories. Have you ever noticed how men love hoop earrings? I think it's so funny! I saw these on Anne Hathaway in this month's InStyle magazine and just fell in love with them! Honey, if you're reading this, my birthday is coming up soon!
Forever 21 Bangle
GG stylist, Eric Daman, said Chunky Bracelets will be the next statement piece, so load your arm up!
Nine West Getby
This season cork wedges will be everywhere, not that they aren't in every year, but they were all over the catwalks in fall so expect to see them. I find it really hard to find wedges that are 4" or less (making me 6 ft tall!), so I quickly nabbed these ones last week when I saw they were only 31/2 inches. I should be getting them tomorrow, just in time for the weekend! Shoes are always a great way to also add color to your outfit, but I prefer tan/nude because they go great with all skintones and make your legs look extra looooong.
Halston Heritage Cocktail Dress
Orange anyone? I love this feminine dress with Ruffles in a this season's hot color! Wear it with some nude heels and add a bright bag like blue or yellow and you're ready to dance all night. This one is a double whammy with the grecian One Shoulder look which is going to be uberly trendy this season. Plus, toning up your arms is said to be the easiest thing to see results (note to self: start hitting the gym!).
Telegraph Avenue Dress
Boho looks are still going strong too. I don't usually wear a lot of prints, but do like this style (think Vanessa Hudgens) so I'm going to try and break out of my mold this year.
Halston Heritage V-Neck Dress
Awww, the classic white dress. This is the one we've seen SJP wearing in the SATC 2 preview pics. Just remember to wear something under like a slip to keep it from being see-through!
Target's Xhilaration Floral Romper
Florals and onesies/rompers/jumpers whatever you want to call them is also a must have. I searched everywhere for a cute romper last year and couldn't find any cute affordable ones, but I've seen them a lot so far this season. I bought this one last week and can't wait for warm weather so I can bust it out. The only downside is using the restroom, so make sure you find a easy/comfortable one.
Hudson "Carly" Jeans
Anyone can wear white bottoms, you just need to pay attention to the material and cut. See this post for some hints on finding great jeans.
Alternative Apparel Crop Top
90210 is coming back with a vengeance on style. It's so funny to see 80s and 90s shows/movies and see that everything they're wearing is in style (but thankfully, updated). This month's People Style Watch had a feature with the hit 90s show's style and celebrities rocking the looks now. I just bought a crop top from Forever 21 and since I definitely do not have a flat toned stomach, I've worn it with a cute tank underneath and it looked really good- at least I was told so. Maybe with my NY Resolution I'll be able to ditch the tank by summer (probably not with my genes, but I can definitely work for the goal)!
Old Navy Chambray Boyfriend Shirt
Chambray is back! Wouldn't this top look cute with some white shorts, tan belt, bright bag, and some sandals? I can't wait to wear this look!
Other hot trends I didn't include is Blue- laguna, aqua, turquiose, Fringe, Mini- shorts, dresses, and skirts will definitely stay short this season, Clogs- my favorite shoe from the 7th grade is back in style, but luckily a LOT cuter, and Digital Prints- fabrics with loads of color and a mix of patterns that are well blended.
What are you keeping your eye out for? What trends are you excited to wear/see? Did I leave anything out? Will you be wearing any of these trends?
1. This season (and parts of other seasons as well) Gossip Girl character Serena Van Der Woodsen has been on the hunt for her father. There's been some speculation as to who would play him, but with tons of paps hounding the set 24/7 we see that it's none other than Billy Baldwin!!
What do you think? Who would you have chosen? Personally, I think they should have picked someone a little more GQ like Alec Baldwin, Alexander Skarsgard (ok, he's a bit young, but so hot), Anderson Cooper (again, just because he's a fox), Jon Hamm, Hugh Jackman, or Colin Firth.
2. Serena and Nate will finally be a couple!
Who's your favorite GG couple? My pick is Chair (Chuck/Blair), but I think Nate will be a good pick for Serena, plus I'm hoping to see him shirtless.
3. One of my favorite ladies will be coming back! Michelle Trachtenberg will be on this season's finale!
I just adore her, she always looks so chic and her beauty is different from other Hollywood types (Ok, so I enjoy the fact that she has big eyes like me). Still, her character Georgina is a total badass, I love her drama. Isn't this picture of her and Jessica Szhor at Fashion Week so cute and stereotypical? I just love it!
PS GG has been renewed for season 4!! Yippee! The show will finally be back in two weeks on March 8 so mark your calendars and set your DVR!
Annalynne Mccord must be one of Hollywood's WORST dressed. I just never see her looking very chic....ever. It just doesn't make sense either because she's gorgeous. If I were her friend, I would tell her to just stick to the basics.

Last night, Amanda from Tales of a Horvath Housewife asked me "What order should you put your make-up on in? I have read several different things (eye make-up then face make-up and vice=versa) and I am totally confused. What do you think is the best way??"
Thanks for you question Amanda, I love hearing from my you guys! Make-up is so much fun and is a great way to try new looks. Everyone puts theirs on a little differently, but I'll tell you how I put my make-up on and what I have learned from magazines, having my make-up done, and going to make-up parties.
First, you want to make sure your face is clean and apply sunscreen to your face, not forgetting about your neck and chest. I know it's winter and you might not be outside much, but one of the top sun damages we expose ourselves to is the sun shining through our car windows or walking to and from your car. Crazy huh?
Then you want to apply a moisturizer, giving your face some time for the moisturizer to set in.
Eyes
I like to start with my eyes first, so that if any shadow falls onto my cheek I can clean it up without having to re-do my face make-up. If you wear a primer, put it on first otherwise you can use some liquid foundation to help your shadow "stick".
Then put your highlighter (brown bone and inner eye corners) and light shadow on first, followed by your medium and darker shades. Remember a key to shadow is blending and that it will look different- and often better- after eye liner and mascara. You can always touch up your highlighter if needed to after.
Once your eye shadow is done, the next step is eye liner (if you wear it). Some people do this before, but that makes no sense to me or some make-up artists I have asked. I guess it's just a matter of preference. For eye liner, you can do a series of dashes and then connect them or one continuous line. When I first started wearing liquid, I would just try my best and then use a Q-tip in make-up remover to fix any mistakes, and now I'm a pro! Never use liquid on your bottom lid though, it is not 1985 and it didn't even look good then. Another option is to use a liner brush and dark shadow for a softer daytime look.
Here comes the best part, mascara! Make sure to curl your lashes! Even when I don't wear make-up, I always curl mine. A little secret is to heat your curler up with your hair dryer for maximum effect, but be sure to check the temperature before you put it up to your eye!
Face
First apply concealer to cover any dark circles, pimples, or redness. Then use foundation to even skin tone. Make sure to blend as to not have that dreadful orange line around the jaw. Next, set everything with some powder.
After powder, you can use either bronzer or blush. I suggest to play around with what look you like best, blush under bronzer or vice-versa. Or you can use just one and not the other.
Don't forget your brows! Whether you color them in or not, at least brush them up and out. Clear mascara is great at keeping them tame, or you can spray some hairspray on an old mascara wand.
Lips
Finally, your kisser. You can use foundation as a primer and a great nude base to really make color pop. If you wear liner, use it first to help keep lip color from straying.
How do you ladies wear your make-up? What are some tricks you use? Do you do your make-up in the same order as I do? I love hearing from you, if you ever have a question please leave me a comment or shoot me an email!
