Baby Must-Haves: 2 Months

 photo 0ed883a2f87511e29cb522000a1f9215_7_zps7dfe0533.jpg

There hasn't been too many new things that we needed this month that we haven't used in the past or items we needed before and aren't using now. I'll definitely be keeping you updated as things change. This last month we went on vacation to the river so we had to get some swim stuff that's on here that we'll be using the rest of the summer. Since we're going into month 3 right now, there's lots of new items for the next post!

I love posts like these on other blogs, it's great seeing what works for other mommies and their babies. I swear there's new products out on a daily basis. I'm also a part of a mother's group on Facebook that's really nice to ask questions and get advice. Motherhood is not for the weak hearted I tell you!

 photo 2MonthMust-HavesBlend_zpsde651be8.jpg

OxiClean Max Force Gel Stick: I absolutely love this stain remover. At the very beginning I was using only Dreft stain remover and it didn't do a thing for us. All the pieces that got soiled stained and Ellie didn't get to wear them again. After ruining one outfit, I started using the OxiClean and not a single piece has been ruined! Even a white pj that experienced our worst blow out yet. It's a Holy Grail product for us and it doesn't bother Ellie's skin whatsoever.

Fisher-Price My Little Snugabunny Cradle Swing: If you remember, our first week home Ellie would sometimes sleep in her swing which finally gave my arms a break. Well, after those first two weeks, she didn't really care for it much. Now, she absolutely loves it! Sometimes when I need her to nap and she's being fussy, I can put her in the swing and she'll be out cold within 10 minutes. Other times, she just loves the motion and laughs looking at the mirror part of the mobile. It's sometimes the only time I can get anything done around the house, I love this swing!

sootheTimesack: Babies love being swaddled and swaddling Ellie was sometimes our only saving grace when she's been fussy (it's even included in my Baby Must Haves for the first week). After the first couple of weeks though she hated having her arms swaddled so we started leaving them out. Most pediatricians recommend to swaddle your child from the armpit down and leave their arms out at two months, but we were doing that weeks ago. When we swaddled her she loved it and then would fuss and fuss because her arms were inside and once we re-swaddled them so they'd be free, she'd be just fine. After a while we didn't swaddle at all and didn't have the need to. Then, one night she was so tired, but was really fighting going to sleep so we swaddled her again and she was out. However, Ellie is really long and her feet were already at the swaddles edge and it was below her arms! The next day I went on the hunt for a good sleep sack that was sleeveless and easy for her to wear. The inside of these sacks have a swaddle for her chest, it zips from top to bottom so it's easy to change her because you can unzip just the bottom and not have to take it completely off, and the sides are mesh for easy breathing for her little legs. I love that she can wear this around her shoulders and it's not just wrapped around her where she could wriggle free (not that she has, but I imagine she could). I definitely want to get some more of these!

Charlie Banana Reusable Swim Diaper: In the last two weekends, we've taken Ellie into the water with us and these swim diapers are amazing! My SIL turned me onto them and they are so easy. I will never use a disposable swim diaper. Ever. Buy these ladies! I picked up two of them, and when your child soils one of them, just take it off to put the 2nd one on, and simply rinse off the soiled one. You could totally just use one, but having two of them made it so much easier and your little one doesn't have to wait naked for you to rinse out their number 2s.

Circo® Infant Girls' Rashguard: Since we were outside, I wanted to make sure to protect her from the sun as much as possible. Our ped had said not to use sunscreen yet, so I bought this long sleeve rashguard to protect her. It worked perfect!

Koala Baby Girls' Swim Hat: I love these swim hats because they dry so quickly and are the perfect protection for Ellie's face and head from the sun. Plus she looks adorable in it!

*Just as a disclaimer, we talked to our ped about putting Ellie in a pool beforehand to talk with her about what's best to protect her. We also didn't have her in the pool or sun for very long.*

Carter's Muslin Butterfly Receiving Blanket: Swaddling blankets were included in my first must-haves and they still are! We use these all the time, they're so light weight, they are perfect for summer time and the cranked AC. These Carter ones are really big and offers lots of ways to wrap up your little ones.

Pandora's Rockabye Baby Station: My sorority big sis told me about this station and it's awesome! We listen to it all the time. I love the variety of music it gives, Journey, Adele, Kanye, Metallica, it's all my favorite songs in lullabies for Ellie to love. There's no words, just the music and some added birds, frogs, and other nature sounds. Ellie really enjoys it and so do I!

Dreamlover Come Rescue Me...

What was your first tape? Or CD? Or for you young guns ITunes download?

I remember mine like it was yesterday. It was Christmas morning, 1993 and Santa brought me a boombox with both Mariah Carey's and Whitney Houston's above albums. Although, it wasn't really Whitney's album, it was a soundtrack. Whatever, details. Yes, I had been a very good girl that year.

Wait. What? You don't know what a boombox is? Oh, well before Ipods and IPhones, this is what us grandmas used:

I kid you not.

Anyways, I wore those tapes out! Hits like Dreamlover and Hero paired with I Will Always Love You and Run to You, they're songs girls everywhere sang into their hair brushes while wearing plaid shirts and cutoff shorts. These songs were on repeat all the time. By repeat I mean I would literally have to push Play > Rewind > Play > Rewind and hope I didn't go too far back (times were tough). I bet I have them somewhere tucked away in the garage.

I'm such a huge fans of these women to this day. Mariah may be a bit goofy, but boy that chick can sing! I own all of her albums and Dreamlover is still one of my favorite songs. I can't wait to see her on American Idol-  Paula Abdul 2.0?

Want to know something crazy? To this day, I remember every single word to these albums (I've updated to ITunes for these classics). Isn't it nuts how you will hear a song you haven't heard in years and still remember every beat?

So, tell me, what was your first album? Which was your favorite song?

Here Comes the Sun

This past Friday,  we went with some family and friends to see Paperback Writers perform as The Beatles at a local outdoor mall. I love The Beatles. LOVE them, in fact our wedding ceremony had a Beatles theme. It was super cool. We got to the show early to save some seats (we set up several chairs, a blanket, and a cooler) and then went to dinner a few stores down at RA Sushi. My in-laws are new to sushi and were a bit apprehensive, but we ordered for them and they're now converts. After dinner we headed back to watch the show and enjoy the awesome weather and good music.

Then I found that this man, had moved our cooler and had placed his chair on my blanket that was obviously reserving the area. I kindly asked him to move, but he refused saying he didn't have room. I let it go, my husband wasn't there yet and there was a possibility he would get off work too late to come so I let it slide. Inside, though I was seething at how rude he was to move other people's stuff and actually take up enough area of a stranger's blanket that those people couldn't even stretch their legs out.

Well, the show went on and the band was amazing. A few songs in, my husband called to say he was headed over and I told him about the rude man above and he assured me he would handle it. Right when I hung up with him, jerk face waved over two friends to him where he was saving seats for them. Oh hell no.

Again, very politely I explained that if he had enough room for two more people to join him he needs to move off my blanket. He told me no, and I explained, politely, that my husband was coming and I needed the space on the blanket to put another body. Then he told me, verbatim "I'm not moving sweetie". Then I got ghetto on him.

nene leakes Pictures, Images and Photos

We had a little tiff where he got snippy with me and Matt's bff and my soon to be brother-in-law had to get in his face, about the appropriate way to talk to a woman. He backed off sheepishly and moved. We apologized to the people around us and they all said it was ok, he was rude (I guess he also had his kne, digging into a woman's chair right into her back) and applauded us for getting rid of him. After I was vindicated, I really enjoyed the show.

The band is in full costume, accents, and plays as though they are the Beatles members. It was great! In between breaks, they had trivia questions and giveaways for the mall shops, my only regret was I didn't know about the concerts at the mall sooner so I could check all of them out! Each week is a different band, next week is The Rolling Stones and we're all going again to catch the last show of summer.

Everyone was singing along and by the end of the night the whole crowd was on their feet dancing. People of all ages, and this young men next to us played air guitar and drums all night long. It was an amazing night and I'm so glad we had the chance to check it out.

Summer Playlist- Rap

This playlist is dedicated to rap (obvi from the post's title), which BTW was so hard to put together because a lot of artists work together on songs, so it was hard to figure out which artist to credit. So because of this, I'm sure some of these may be wrong, but I did look most of them up to be sure. I tried to choose songs that are old and new and just make you want to dance and have a great time or take you back to a fun memory (Hello spring break 2003 in Rosarito anytime I hear In Da Club by 50 Cent). Check out the Old School Playlist here in case you missed it.

This playlist is great for getting ready to go out, getting pumped in your car, or that magical ride into Vegas when you first spot the strip. Each song was picked because they get my blood rushing, my feet moving, and a smile spreads across my face because "my song" just came on. Or to yell out "rap video" and pour bottles and do a "tough" face for a picture and then laugh at how ridiculous it is.

Every list contains my favorites and I'm sure there's tons of great songs I've left off, so PLEASE leave your favorite in a comment below! I'm hoping to add some really great songs this week, just in time for my first summer vacation.

Summer Playlist- Old School Rock

Now that summer is just around the corner and everyone will be out this Memorial Weekend, I thought I'd post a few of my favorite songs/playlists from my collection this week leading up to the start of summer. I've tried to keep the list to my top 10, but I'm sure there will be a few posts with 12....or 15. Ok, I'll keep it under 20- promise. Each playlist will have a theme, and today's is Old School Rock. I grew up listening to my Dad's stuff because I didn't have an older sister/brother to teach me who NKOTB were....seriously, had no clue about them or why my friend Sissy was so obsessed. Luckily, I had other friends who did have older siblings and I totally love Whitney, Mariah, and Tiffany thanks to them.

This playlist is for easy car rides, laying out by the pool, and great music to BBQ or listen to on the boat. My old roomie used to call this my "Utah" music when I would play it while cleaning. LOL.  Ever list contains my favorites and I'm sure there's tons of great songs I've left off, so PLEASE leave your favorite in a comment below! I'm hoping to add some really great songs this week, just in time for my first summer vacation.
