Playboy Glitz Sunless Self Tanning

This is hands-down the BEST self-tanner I've ever used in my entire life. I would even consider it a life changing product, that's how good it is! It sprays evenly without stopping at every angle, making it super easy to spray yourself. Another awesome feature is that the tanner has a bronzer in it so you can see results right away and see where you sprayed yourself making it easier to get an even tan, the tan will darken in 3-5 hours from initial application. The bottle has instructions on when to shower and rinse off your tan depending on how deep you'd like your tan to be. The results are equal to a professional spray tan, but you get it at the convenience of your own home and can touch up whenever you'd like instead of heading into a salon. After I was dry (I dried within 10 minutes), I went to bed and NONE of my tan came off onto my sheets or pillow cases which has never happened to me with a spray tan before.

The smell is pretty strong with a fruity effect so you want to be sure to spray down in a well ventilated area. I had my husband spray me in the shower with the vent on and then I immediately washed down our walls and tub once I was dry. It's best to spray yourself in a horizontal manner, side to side, and then my husband and I used our hands to blend in the spots that had too much or became runny because he sprayed too close. My hairdresser who told me about the product said to rinse off my feet right after spraying, but instead I used lotion to cover my feet. Mistake. I should have listened to her, she always leads me in the right direction. My feet were pretty bronzed, but came off with a wash rag so it wasn't a big deal.

The bottle gave me some gorgeous color and I wasn't orange at all! It gave me a really nice bronzed brown color that was noticeable right away, like I had spent the weekend in the sun. Here are some pictures from my Bumpdates that show the difference:

The left is a few weeks ago, absolutely not tan whatsoever and on the right is at my baby shower two days after using the spray. You can really see the different in my arms and chest. I wish I had better before and after pictures wearing the same outfits so you could really see the difference it makes, but let's be real. This is not a commercial, it's blog, I don't get paid or have a huge budget for this. So until I hit the jackpot this is what I have.

This spray is seriously the best ever, I don't think I'll ever use another self-tanner spray again (I'll use my L'oreal Sublime Bronze, it's just easier to use daily). Now where can you find this gem? Tanning supply shops (both stores and online) carry it,you can get it from the Playboy Tanning site directly, but I also found it here on Amazon for less than $20.

Have you used this spray before? What's your favorite self-tanner?

Product Review: L'Oreal Sublime Bronze

The lovely and beautifully bronzed babe Jess from The Kentucky Priss posted about her fave self-tanner and I had to grab it. Ummm, thanks Jess, another product must-have!

Pros:
- Tinted to help apply it evenly and give you some instant bronze
- Dries super quick, and absorbs faster than any other self-tanner I've used
- No stinky smell
- Tons of very fine shimmer (like Victoria Angel runway status)
- Doesn't rub off onto your clothing, not even my white shorts!
- Gives a natural bronzed look, no Lindsay Lohan orange here

Cons:
- The tint didn't make that big of a difference for me in the aid of application, I still had some orange spots, but nothing crazy
- I personally LOVE the shimmer, but that may not be for everyone
- For me, it gave me more of a gradual tan, I needed two applications before I really saw a difference

Not too many cons, I'm really happy with this product and I'm totally going to continue using this and my Jergen's Natural Glow Express (works really well, but takes forever to absorb). I do prefer a spray tanner over lotions, but I haven't been able to find one I really like. After using this L'Oreal lotion I want to try one of their sprays and when I do, I'll be sure to post about it.  I'll definitely be using this product all summer long.

What self-tanners do you use? Have you tried this one, what did you think?

Product Review: Spray Tan

With the wedding coming up, I want to definitely have a "bridal glow", not a Jersey Shore tan and I don't want to look like Casper. I've never been one for fake baking, but have used self-tanners in the past (check out the reviews here). For all the bridal events coming up (shower, bachelorette party) I wanted to have the tan nailed perfectly by the wedding.

I've heard tons and tons about spray tans so I wanted to check them out. I Googled and asked around and came across Premiere Sunless Tan in Chino, CA. Kari is the owner of PST, it's a mobile service so you can head to her place, or have her come to your home or work for the tan. Sorry it's not a chain store ladies, but if you live in the area you should definitely check them out! I set up my appointment with the owner Kari and headed over.

I had a custom full body spray and I'm so happy with the results! Kari uses a tanner that has bronzer in it so you see the results right away. My tan lines from last summer are barely visible! I know I said I'd never post another picture without make-up on, but I want to show you ladies the full effect of the tan.

Here I am on the left just before the tanning session the pic on the right is 3 days post tan (please note that NONE of these pictures are flattering):

These pictures do not give the tan justice! I really wish I had taken better before and after pictures so you guys could get the full effect. These pictures are at different places with different lighting and the post pic is after having my hair done and with my weave in, also the color looks more tan than it did in real life. Check out these OOTDs here and here for a better picture of the tan IRL. Anyways, the tan is the exact color that I was looking for! My tan is even all over my body and I didn't have any orangeness from the spray at all! The color looks very natural, like it's the middle of summer or I just got back from a vacation.

Everything I wear looks so much better now and I don't have any need to wear bronzer on top of the tan. I feel so much more confident and I definitely look thinner do to that 5-10 lbs a tan can shave off of you.  I've never cared too much about being tan, but now I think I'm addicted!! I'm so happy with the results, I bought a package and have 4 tans to use before the big day. It's now been a few days and the tan is slowly fading (I missed a day or two of using Jergen's Natural Glow to help prolong it) and my tan lines from last summer are gradually appearing.

Here's some tips I've found online that help prepare for your spray tan and help it to last longer which I've been following and have seen the results:

Before Tanning:

  • Wax 2 days before tanning or shave the night before; wax residue will block tanner absorption.
  • Take a shower and exfoliate properly using a body brush or quality scrub. Removing any dead cells and body oils will help the sunless tanner penetrate your skin and give you the best results.
  • Do not use deodorants (it will turn green!!!), makeup, perfume or moisturizers prior to the tanning. lotions can act as a barrier & prevent the solution from contacting your skin.
  • You may tan in the garment of your choice or ladies may be sprayed nude. Bathing suit and underwear work well and Men are required to wear underwear, boxer shorts or a bathing suite.
  • Wear loose-fitting dark-colored clothing and flip-flops because some of the bronzer can rub off on your clothing and shoes can cause your feet to prepare affecting the result.
  • To avoid age spots , freckles, moles, ect. from getting darker, apply a cosmetic concealer over the spots or areas to block the solution and give an even appearance of color.

Immediately After Tanning:

  • Do not wash your hands for at least 4 hours.
  • Do not put on tight clothing for at least 4 hours.
  • Do not exercise(1st day). Perspiring immediately after tanning alters the chemical reaction of the solution changing its color.
  • Do not swim or immerse yourself in water.
  • Do not apply moisturizer.

Maintain & Prolong your tan:

  • Wait at least 8 hours before Showering. Recommend next day.  You may see color washing off the first time you shower, this is normal.
  • Apply moisturizer after the shower and every day after your tanning session. This will help prolong your tan. Do not take long hot baths or showers.
  • Chlorine from a pool or jacuzzi can cause your tan to fade faster
  • Using a product like Jergen's Natural Glow at night to help maintain your tan

Have you tried spray tanning before? What was your experience? Any tips?

*BTW I was away Thursday - Monday on a short vacation so I'll be writing back to your emails and comments and catching up on your blogs today and tomorrow! Hope you all had a great weekend!

Product Review: Sunless Tanning

Now that the warmer seasons are upon us, I look forward to having a great tan. However, any health risks are unwelcomed so I use a self-tanner to get my glow going. I'm fairly new to this, but here are the products I use and my reviews:

Coppertone Moisture Mist Tan Continuous Spray
This little baby is wonderful! It's less than $10 at your local drug store and is worth every penny! It's easy to use, the smell is pretty faint & disappears pretty quickly, and dries in 5 minutes or less. The best part is that it's really easy to build your color. In my experience, I've never had any streaks or orange patches. This is how I use it: After I'm out of the shower and dry I spray it on my body and then rub it around to make sure it's all covered. There's usually not much to rub in because the continous spray is pretty even and is very much a mist, then I wash my hands. Then I let it dry completely and get dressed as usual. When I want to have a nice tan, I use this tanner for 5 straight days leading up to the day I want it by. The color won't look like you've been laying out in the sun for a week straight, but does give a great color that looks natural. I would recommend the product to everyone.

Jergens Natural Glow Express Body Moisturizer
This product definitely works, but is easy to get that orange look and streaks if not used properly. I use this product when I've either ran out of the above product or need a tan ASAP. The best way to use a lotion self tanner is to mix it 50/50 with your everyday moisturizer. Be careful of knees, ankles, elbows and wrists with this one because those definitely are the easiest to look orange because of your skins texture in those parts. This tanner has a stronger smell and because it's a lotion instead of a mist it takes longer to absorb in your skin than the spray kind. Overall, this product is great in a jiffy, but I would recommend a self tanner that lets you build your tan instead.

Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer
I think this lotion is probably one of the most popular for self tanners. It has the same smell as the above product (they are the same brand afterall) but I think it's a little bit less strong. This one is great at not only building a tan, but keeping a tan you already have for a longer time period as well. After a cruise vacation I had the best tan and used this lotion to help it last longer and it worked so great it's become a staple in my bathroom drawer. The color you get if you use the lotion without any tan at all is just a few shades, but still makes a difference I think. I've never had any orange patches or streaks using this product, but I always wash my hands afterwards.

Banana Boat Summer Color Self-Tanning Mist
Beware! Although this product does work, the color isn't any better than the first product mentioned. It's smell is so strong it could make you nautious and it takes forever to dry. I wouldn't recommend this to anyone because there's other products out there for the same price and outcome.

Have you ever tried a sunless tanner? What ones worked for you or didn't work?
