Weekend Snapshots

This weekend felt so long, but it went by so quickly! It was so much fun and we had such a great time together. I had gone to the store several times this past week and kept thinking about how we needed to get candy to pass out, but of course I ended up at 3pm buying several bags on Halloween. The stores were so packed! I'm happy that they had a ton of "good" candy left, no one wants to be that house.

We started Halloween off with a party at Ellie's daycare. It was so cute and fun! They decorated treat bags, had a little program where they sang songs, decorated sugar cookies (Ellie skipped the work and went straight to eating hers), had a scavenger hunt in the "spider's lair", and had their face painted. I'm so in love with her new daycare! She has so much fun and I love the attention she gets from her teacher and friends.

For the party, I made monster cupcakes that I couldn't wait to share...

But one of the kids wanted to help me carry it and knocked over the case, so they definitely became MONSTER cupcakes. I couldn't stop laughing, he was so cute to help! Plus, they still tasted just as yummy!

After Ellie's nap, we finally painted her pumpkins. We had been meaning to do this earlier, but we've had lots of visitors and Matt and I didn't want to do it without the other one being present. So day of decorating totally happened. I used some painters tape to make a design in her pumpkin and I'm thinking an art project for the playroom should totally happen soon using the same method.

I wish I could keep it forever! I love how they turned out! I'm thinking about having her decorate a foam one so I can. It was a really fun project and it wasn't nearly as messy as I had expected it to be.

After dinner it was time to trick or treat! We just went around to 4-5 houses and then came home and had a firepit in our driveway with some scary music playing and passed out candy.

It was just a great night! Children make holidays so much fun and I can't wait for Thanksgiving and Christmas next!

Oh! Here is my costume for the holliday, I went with a Halloween classic- a ghost!

InstaLately Link Up 4

I'm a coffee drinker, but a hot apple cider in the morning is delicious!

My OOTN for my first Bunco night! A sorority sister invited me and it was so much fun! I can't wait to play again!

Mossimo Skinnies, Old Navy Blouse, Steve Madden Flats

My Sissy in law has set a date and asked me to be a bridesmaid! I couldn't be happier or more excited!

On Sunday, we went out shopping and she said Yes to the most gorgeous dress and the girls all found our BM dresses. We're so efficient!

My nails are ready for Halloween!

The family ready for a Halloween party! Our costume was such a big hit! Most of the costumes we made ourselves or altered store bought ones (you really should have seen mine before)

Here's a close up of the hubs and I. Isn't his costume scary? Our niece kept crying and running.

Happy Halloween everyone!

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh....What?

Today my work had an Ugly Christmas Sweater themed day, but I decided to step it up and actually come to work as a Christmas tree (thanks to one of my bff's old Halloween costume). It was hilarious!!

Halloween-themed Baby Shower

My good friend K is expecting her first child- a boy!- this winter and some of us ladies threw her a good Halloween-themed party to celebrate! I'm so happy for you K, N and H congratulations again!!

The party was so much fun and the mommy-to-be made out pretty well and will be up and running when the baby arrives! Also, everyone of all ages dressed up and it was a great time all around!

Mommy-to-be and I (I'm a flamingo!)

This is my friend N and she's a flying squirrel- totally awesome.

Best mother-daughter costume by far!

This little girl wasn't at the party, they just had her picture on the fridge and I had to take a picture of it because it was the most awesome Avatar costume I had ever seen!

My Halloween Costume 2010....

a FLAMINGO!!

Hahahaha was that your guess from my hint from this post?

I made it using my leotard from my 80s workout costume, 10 feather boas safety pinned together and to the seams, a toucan beak I spray painted black, and pink tights from Target.

For Halloween, I spent the night with my cousin's family and had a great time. I made cider from a recipe I got from Leah from The Way We Are (thanks again sister!) and it was bomb.com and my family asked that I make it again for Thanksgiving.

How was everyone's Halloween? What were your costumes? Did you see anything special?

Halloween Costumes of the Past

First and foremost, DO NOT JUDGE ME for these costumes. Most of them were in booze-induced college nights and believe it or not, everyone else dressed up pretty similar. It's definitely like the quote from Mean Girls when Lindsay Lohan's character says "Halloween is the one night a year when girls can dress like a total slut and no other girls can say anything about it."

I've been hungting down all of the pictures from college, but I've missing three pictures; my freshman and sophomore year (before digital cameras were the standard) which included a naughty school girl and a devil. Then the third picture I'm missing is from my junior year in college when I dressed up as Jekyll/Hyde. I'm not sure if it's a good thing or not that I'm missing these pictures. On one hand, I'm sad I don't have the memorabilia, but I'm really glad that it's not on the internet anywhere either.

My version of a Ninja Turtle- I actually wish I had pictures of my hair and make-up, because they were awesome! For my eye bandana I had blue eyeshadow with glitter across my face and glitter in my mohawk. Why did I wear my hair in a mohawk?? NO CLUE. My shell was pretty awesome too, and anyone who needs a turtle shell for a costume should definitely copy my mad craft skills. I made my shell out of an aluminum turkey pan, painted it green, then did gold glitter for the "shell" design then strapped it on. We got a lot of compliments that night and anyone who can speak skanktastic knew I was a Ninja Turtle.

My version of Shaq...or at least a Heat cheerleader? Although this outfit is pretty sexy, it really didn't show that much, at least not cheeks or cleavage anyway. For this costume I bought a children's jersey and cut off the bottom and tied it in the back over a sequin bra.

80's Workout diva and the Fiance was Richard Simmons! It was fab, comfortable (except that I wore a leotard so it made it difficult to pee)and tons of fun. Also, it's such an easy costume you can put it together in a snap. The only thing that made it hard was finding shiny nylons that didn't have the extra support where the thigh area was a different pattern. Oh and yes, those are leg warmers not socks.

Zombie Docter- the blood on my hands was awesome and washed right off without staining. I wish I kept the package so I could remember what I used! Several people at the party stated that they had never seen me wear so much clothes ever let alone for a Halloween costume. Looks like someone is growing up! The Fiance was the milk guy from the Got Milk? ads, so freaking hilarious! Yes, is he wearing one of my old extensions as a mustache....I love this guy!

This year I already know what I'm going to be this year, but I'm not telling. I did order part A of the items needed, but it's on back order so I'm trying to find what I need elsewhere. Wish me luck! I can't wait to show you guys!

Here's a clue:

What are you guys being for Halloween? What have you been in the past?
