Wedding Post: My Make-up

For my big wedding look, I've been going back and forth between super glam and a natural look for my big day. I want to look like myself, but the best of myself. I'm pretty natural with my make-up on an everyday basis, but when I go out, I do my make-up to the max, full on style. Here are some looks I love and wanted to use as examples with my make-up artist. I want make-up that compliments my overall look and isn't competing with my hair or jewelry. I want it to enhance my features, be photo-worthy and reflect my style.

The "Natural" Looks
I love the soft smoky eyes here, soft pink/nude lips, and glowy cheeks -a little less "glow" than Hayden's though. This look reminds me of that hot "girl next door" vibe and I think it will be great with our wedding (a classy, backyard event). With the help of some major faux lashes, I'll be made-up emough to be stand out. Also, this is a great look that will still be beautiful in 10, 15, 50 years from now.

The "Glam" Files

Darker smoky eyes, va-va-voom lashes, darkened eyebrows, pink cheeks and lips.
This is what I'm leaning more towards, I feel like this is more "me". I'm wearing my hair down (see this post from last week) and wearing pageant-worthy jewelry and I don't want my make-up to take a backseat.

What do you ladies like best? Should I do a combo, a little bit of this and that? Which is your favorite look? Which picture(s) should I bring in as examples?

I like the glam looks. Hayden's picture is my favorite.

to me, both looks are pretty similar, with the glam having a little more dramatic eye. i like julianna hough's face the best for the "glam" files, carrie underwoods "natural" look.

This is such a tough call and I know what you mean about not wanting your makeup to compete with your jewelry. I do think a glam look is nice on wedding day and I’m loving that last look from Carrie Underwood. Her smoky eyes are beautiful! I say lashes are a must. I wish I had done that.

I think that no matter what you need some "va-va-voom" eyelashes! Either look will be beautiful!

I love the natural looks. I love seeing brides who look fresh and simple. We got married in the afternoon and then had an evening sit-down dinner party with all of our guests. Before the dinner party, I touched up my make up to be more evening, so I got to do both!

I vote for Glam. It's your wedding!!! You can look natural any other day of the week.

I think a comkp bc you wear fancy makeup all the time

Oddly, I like Carrie in both looks.

Did you decide on how you're wearing your hair for sure yet? I think that would be the best determiner for makeup in my opinion...I know you said down...but I didn't know if it would be half up or not.

I think I'd lean more for a smoky eye though ;-)

i love both looks but two things. def go with the look that is more "you"... and second keep in mind the pictures - make up sometimes gets washed out, so you might want to go a little heavier (glam) for them... also, its your wedding day, its nice to add a little extra glam and feel like a princess!

I think a littel combo would be perfect! I love the natural look, but a more natural, "lighter" smoky eye will make your eyes pop.

I am so loving all the neutral looks and think they would look fab on you! If you are wearing a good amount of bling, too much makeup will have you looking a bit overdone.

MY suggestion just because their makeup is ALWAYS To DIE for: is a mix between Hayden's sunkissed -going out look and the last picture of GLAMMED out Carrie Underwood :) Sunkissed and falsy lashes and lots of pinky cheeks! You will look gorgeous either route you go!!!

I like the last Carrie Underwood look - I think she looks so pretty and it would look great on you!

i used a pic of hayden for my makeup inspiration and I was thrilled with how it turned out. I did opt for a smokey eye but kept everything else pink and glowing (lips and cheeks). I think a more dramatic eye is nice for photos where often features can get lost without enough definition. I would say go somewhere halfway between natural and glam.

My vote is for last carrie underwood pic!

I definitely love the glam eyes! You don't want to go too natural so it will show up in your photos.

I think Hayden P's makeup is always so pretty and I think that the more "natural look" is the best for brides - I like the freshness of it.

I personally like the natural look. But I think you should do whatever makes you feel the most beautiful, it's what you think, not everyone else that matters on your day!

When it comes time to plan for a wedding, there is a great deal of anticipation and excitement about the event. In addition, there are also many details that have to be taken care of and many decisions to be made by the couple. One key decision is the wedding dress that the bride will wear when she goes down the aisle to stand beside her groom.
