Product Review: MAC Powder Blush- Pink Swoon

I've been on the hunt for a different blush recently, just wanting to switch mine up from my usual MAC Blush Two Virtues (see my post about it here) or Sunbasque, but I wanted to try something that looks more natural and less shimmery. I first heard about MAC Powder Blush in Pink Swoon (buy here from MAC) when Carrie Underwood wore it on her wedding day- doesn't her make-up look amazing?? Then I kept seeing the same color pop up all over blogs, magazines, etc. I even read that this is a shade Kim K uses often and since she and Carrie have cheeks that are the perfect pale pink with a flushed look I thought I'd go for it.

*Sidenote, I did say that my next blush purchase would be NARS Orgasm, but I just love this shade of pink! Maybe I'll buy Orgasm when I'm out of Pink Swoon

Here are the swatches from MAC and Nordstrom's websites. It really looks like that bright pink shade on the left IRL in the pot, but it is such a soft color on, just like the picture on the right.

Here it is on me:

I just love it!! it's the perfect flushed look and looks VERY natural. The first day I wore it, I got two compliments from co-workers, one of which is a (very straight) man!! Nothing was special about my make-up either, just my usual eye shadow and make-up routine, the only change was my blush so I knew I had a winner!

As for a review, this is a great shade for various skin tones. It gives a perfectly flushed look, like you just walked up a flight of stairs or blushed because of a cute boy. It's very sheer, and easy to build color. There's no shimmer in it, but layers well with MAC Irridescent powder (see my review of it here). It retails for $18.50, so it is more than your drugstore find, but worth every penny!

What color and brand of blush do you wear? Do you ever switch it up?

That looks really good on you, but then again your make-up always looks fabulous! I always have the problem of my blush caking. I'm not sure if it is my skin type, the foundation, the fact that I don't use a powder, or what?!

that looks fab on you..you look like miss underwood!
I use the nars, and LOVE it. I recently on a whim bought the stila "good for everyone" shade that is supposed to match you skintone and I want to return it. I look like a freaking clown.

That looks fantastic on you! I never wear blush because I get flushed so easily anyhow. I'm glad to see that color because it may be a safe blush for those that blush easily anyhow! :-) Thanks for the review.

Love how just a small thing like changing your blush up can make such a big difference!

I am on my last sliver of nars and was going to re-order it but I think I will try this out instead!

I'm in the market for a new blush too. I currently use NARS but it has a bit too much of a shimmer in it for winter. This looks beautiful on you. Thanks for sharing!

Tiffany- It may be the brand of blush you're using or that whatever you put underneath (concealer, foundation or moisturizer) isn't completely dry yet.

Danielle- Thank you so much, you're so sweet! I still want the NARS so that will be my next purchase. All those "match your skintones" never work for me either.

Kerr & Jessica- Definitely try this blush! I seriously love the color and it's worth the $$

So pretty!! It really looks great on you! I very rarely wear blush.. I've yet to find the perfect shade for my skintone.

Oooh I love that blush! I want to try it! I have been searching for the perfect pink blush for awhile now. I currently use a couple different ones - mainly Nars Orgasm during the summer months when I had a tan. Now that I'm paler I want to find something more pink-based and I think this one would be perfect!

oh i think it looks great on you. unfortunately for me... i get "red face" as my loving friends and family call it.

when i get embarrassed, flustered, excited, or even a TASTE of alcohol, my cheeks flush up soo fast it looks like i fell on a blush brush. that being said, i can't wear real blush bc it only intensifies my little red problem! :)

but like i said looks great on you :) i'm jealous

Can't say I've ever really "shopped" for blush, just bought the one available at the store when I remembered I needed some. But you've inspired me, that looks gorgeous and absolutely perfect on you! I may just go get one for myself. Thanks for the tip!
