Product Review: NIVEA Men Post Shave Balm as Primer

Good morning everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and Hanukkah! I LOVED seeing everyone's posts on Facebook and Instagram! It was such a magical day for us, I'll be sharing a recap next week!

Today I'm sharing a review of NIVEA Men Post Shave Balm as a makeup primer. Yep, you read that right. When the balms arrived, Matt thought they were for him and I was going to put them in his stocking! Um, no sir, those are mine and I might share with you if you're nice. Using the Balm as a primer became popular with several YouTube beauty vloggers and totally took off! It's made with glycerin which acts as a glue to your foundation helping it last and last. I'm a total beauty junkie and love finding new products that serve multiple purposes. I couldn't wait to dive in!

For the past two weeks, I've used this daily and have really loved the results! It also has Chamomile, Vitamin E and Provitamin B5 which make the formula/product good for sensitive skin. I'm always hesitant to try new skin products because of my sensitive skin, so these ingredients are important to me. It's alcohol free so I didn't have to worry about it drying out my already dry skin.

The formula is thin, almost runny, and you don't need much for your face. I used about a dime size amount for my whole face and blended it into my neck. I found the NIVEA Men Balm to work best on clean skin (obviously), and I worked it into my skin and let it soak in and dry before applying my foundation with a wet sponge. The balm does have a masculine, fresh scent, and I was worried it would last all day, but it was gone before I even left for work. I did my makeup just like usual, nothing different or special other than using the balm as a primer. My usual face makeup includes foundation, concealer, powder, bronzer, and blush.

My skin felt so soft and my makeup lasted all day long. I found that my powder, bronzer, and blush all lasted through out the day and I didn't need to touch up, I didn't have any fading, or random patches that disappeared. These two pics were taken 8 hours after application! Everything held up so well, it looks just as fresh as it did in the morning! I have to give the NIVEA Men Post Shave Balm as a primer a double thumbs up! It's under $10 and will last forever! I love that both Matt and I can both use it to keep our skin fresh and hydrated.
