I loved all of your comments on my living room post (check it out here!) I've decided to create House to Home as a regular series as I look through inspiration. It will be all about decor and style, a different set of posts than what we are doing in the house to make it our own.
We were looking for a place that is child friendly and our home has a great loft we'll be making into a playroom for Ellie to call her own and can bring some organization to all the toy chaos. I'd love to create a place that's calming, but has pops of colors like pink, aqua, and lime. We'll have the couch we use now in the room, which is also a sofa bed which will be great for guests to stay on. We will eventually add a TV, but not anytime soon. I also want to put in a great play tent for her like the adorable teepees that are all the rage right now. I would totally be living through my child with a teepee. Having a small nook of your own is so awesome as a child and I remember building forts all the time with my mom growing up. A chalkboard accent would be cute too, but I don't want to paint an entire wall with chalk. Thankfully, I have a TON of chalkboards from our wedding so I'll just nail a large one on its side for Ellie to use. You know, because she can totally write her name already. Ha ha ha. Just thinking in both the long term and short term use for a playroom.
Here is some of the inspiration I've found on Pinterest, there's something great in each picture.

Love love love! I want to make a playroom area in our basement when we refinish it. Now I just need the $$$ to refinish our basement! HAHA!
I love everything you've pinned. I especially like the honeycomb multi-colored rug and also the 'nana's book club' chalkboard/art wall - love that! These pics make me wish my baby wasn't almost 13. {Yikes. Thirteen.}

Love the little reading nook pic! As for a chalkboard wall, my hubby made a "chalkboard" for our daughter in our craft/playroom by painting on chalkboard paint. He then painted molding and put it up around the paint to frame it...it works great and she loves it! As for the mess, it's not too bad. :)

Love the look of the markers in the glass jars, but think that could be a bad idea... if it breaks that would stink to clean up. We are going to do a magnet board in Caleb's new room. I have a fear that if I let him draw on one wall because of the chalkboard paint then he will do it to other walls.
I love these inspiration photos! I have to say, the playroom has been to most fun to decorate room in our house. I'm almost ready to post it on my blog.
Have fun with it! Can't wait to see what you do with the space:)
Wow! So adorable! Love Nana's Book Club! Can't wait to have kiddies so I can do cool stuff like this with them too! I know you love jane.com, just wanted to let you know about a pretty cool accessories shop here in australia thats having a 50% off sale (promise i don't work for them lol just know you like the jewels as much as me!) its called collette by collette hayman - google it :) congrats on buying the house! Here are my 2 cents! I think chalkboard walls are so trendy right now, but wonder how long you'll want that look in your house. Also, the dust. The dust! (I'm also pretty OCD when it comes to clean stuff.) I'd also suggest putting bookshelves, especially the ones mounted on the wall, at your baby's height. I think it strange when it's mounted at adult height. How can your LO reach for a book and read (or "read" as is the case for the foreseeable future) to herself?
