Resolutions, An Update

So here we are into the first month of the year (and decade!) and I wanted to update you all on my Resolutions progress. I figure I'll do this at the end of every month so that everyone can comment about how they are doing on their resolutions because I'm seriously interested and want to know if you are keeping yours, if you made new ones and tossed the old ones, and see if you guys have any suggestions that help to keep you or I on track. Please comment if you have anything to say at all. I'd love any advice and your updates.

So here is a recap of my resolutions and how they are going:

1. Write in my journal.
I haven't written weekly, but did do a monthly recap.....right before I wrote this post. See, you guys are keeping me on track already! I also bought the Kiehl's journal, and have used it a couple times.

2. This is my year of savings.
I need to make an appointment with my investor for my retirement account and I have opened my HSA.....yesterday. However, I did put more into my savings account this month than usual, should that count for something right? My beauty of a sister K also bought me the above Suze Orman book which should help.

3. Lose 15lbs by May 1st.
I have continued to count calories and have lost a total of 6lbs, 3 of which were part of the 15lbs and the other 3lbs were the pounds I needed to lose to get to the 15lbs to lose. Does that make sense?

I've also bought three workout DVDs, two Jillian Michaels and one from The Biggest Loser. I've only opened one so far, but didn't even do the full workout, just 3 of the 5 sections......and I haven't crossed the threshold of the gym....yet. I was sick for part of the month and on a mini-vacation for another one, but I'm really hoping to step up my game for February.

4. Learn to cook.
I have gathered recipes, but haven't made anything yet. I will be back in my Motherland in February and plan on cooking everyday for my grandparents. So my resolution will have started to unfold then, and not a minute sooner.

5. To be more personal on this blog.
Well, I'm writing about my progress, the good and the bad and I've also posted pictures of my Christmas gifts, and I plan on continuing the trend. Do you have any suggestions or anything you'd like to see?

Nice post...I'm sticking to most of my goals...hitting a workout 4-5x per week (barring my almost 2 week illness) and blogging at least 4x per week. I also planned to save a specified amount of money, definitely still working on that one-tough when I have to buy six plane tickets during the next four months!

Awesome job!! I'm doing pretty good on a coupld of my resolutions. I started going back to my exercise class, I was doing good at eating for a little while, then had a slump so now I'm getting back into it, I started the journals for Peyton and this unborn baby to talk about the little things that happen, and I'm also reading my scriptures! Hooray!

I have that same work out DVD and love it! It's not easy. I haven't even tried the hardest one yet.
Congrats on all of your progress!
My goal is to run a half marathon this year, I've gone running some but I actually need to run less and do more weights so my knees don't hurt... anyway I am going to make a work out schedule this week.
I love your personal stuff, thanks for sharing.

Coley- That's great! If I only had your dedication to working out! I really enjoy your posts so keep it up! Also, you should join Southwest's email stuff, I was able to books flights for $50 and $75 each way through deals they emailed me about. The only catch is you have to book by a certain day and travel at specific dates.

Amanda- Congrats on all your hard work! I need to start reading my scriptures too. If you keep a journal of what you eat, I find that REALLY helps me to eat better.....or at least eat less of the bad stuff.

Jessica- Ok, I'm glad I'm not alone in thinking the workout was hard! I got pretty down about being even more out of shape than I thought! Good luck on your half marathon! I'm sure you'll do great!

Thanks girls for your support and letting me know how you're all doing! I think this is going to be a great year and we're all starting it out right!
