Fall Recent Purchases

Now that we’ve had a few cooler days (we’re still in the 80s though most of the time) I’ve bought a few items to add to my closet for the fall season. Just some basics that I can use all the time and throughout the holidays. I’m mostly buying items that I can wear for several years, transition with the seasons, or to replace an older item. Of course, some beauty items were also mixed in. Shocking, I know.

Old Navy Tweed Puff Vest
Last year I bought a solid black puff vest and loved it! I definitely wanted some more and when I saw this tweed one online I immediately added it to my cart. I just love the fabric and it’s so warm and cozy. I wore it on Halloween night and stayed the perfect temp for the cold evening.

e.l.f. Blush in Peachy Cheeky
I’ve been wanting to try e.l.f.’s baked blush for a while after reading several reviews from bloggers about them. They were available online only forever, but I found it at my local Target recently and picked it up. It’s not very pigmented and also has a bit of highlighter in it. The color is really pretty, but not very pigmented and doesn’t last the entire day.

Forever 21 Swiss Dot Top
Stripes are usually my go-to, but I’ve started to like polka dots recently. This sweater is so easy to wear and light weight, which I love. I’m really into pairing simple tops/sweaters with a bolder statement necklace. It just adds some pizzazz to my everyday work look.

Sally Hansen Polish in Black and Blue
This color is so unusual, I love how it gives off so many different colors at once depending on the angle/light. By itself, it needed too many coats to achieve the pigment I wanted so I layered it over black and it was awesome! It would look good over blue, purple, or green too.

Forever 21 Crew Neck Sweater
I have two black crew neck sweaters that have seen the end of their days so I needed a new one to replace them. This one is a looser knit and is very comfortable to wear. I definitely want to pick it up in pink too!

Old Navy Short Zip Boots
Oh my goodness! These boots are so comfortable! I didn’t have to break them in at all and I’ve worn them a million times by now because of it. I thought the hubs would think they’re fugly, you know, Girl Cute vs Guy Cute and all, but he loves the look of them.

Forever 21 Beaded Headband
Last year I bought the most gorgeous beaded headband from Nordstrom and since we moved in January I haven’t been able to find it for the life of me! This will be perfect for the holidays to add a little sparkle to my look.

This top is also from Target, but I couldn't find it online.
Target Mossimo Leopard Shoes
Another shoe that was comfortable to wear from the get go! I feel like I’ve hit the shoe jack pot with these two purchases. I saw Jenn from Perfectly Imperfect buy them on InstaGram and had to get them myself after she said they were comfortable. Best $20 I’ve spent on work shoes. I also wear these all the time, I mean leopard is the new neutral right?

Forever 21 Plaid Scarf
I’ve been mad for plaid lately. I definitely want to add some more plaid shirts to my collection as well this year.

Maybelline Volum Express The Rocket Mascara
For years and years I used Maybelline, but it was always flaking onto my cheeks so I switched over to L’Oreal and didn’t look back. I’ve been more than satisfied with L’Oreal’s mascaras, but over the weekend I didn’t have any makeup on while visiting with my family and we were going to go out so I borrowed some from my sister in law. Holy moly! This mascara made my eyelashes look so incredibly long! I went out and bought it the NEXT DAY it worked so well! So far, I’ve been really loving it too.

What have you bought recently? I'm still hunting for a bright red polish and a deep raspberry lipstick (any suggestions??). Happy Monday!

OOTD: Wedding Attire

I'm so late in posting this, but Matt and I went to a wedding a few weeks ago and I chose this taupe dress for the night. For fall weddings, I have such a hard time picking out what to wear since it's technically "fall" but it's still 80+ degrees here in California. Do I dress for the weather or the season? I figured this strapless beauty would be the perfect choice with my earrings from Very Jane.

I had been eyeing the Morgan Maxi forever, but couldn't decide on a color. I wanted to choose a color I didn't already have in my closet and one that could be worn year round. I was debating between the navy and the maroon, but when the taupe restocked I immediately added it to my cart and checked out. The dress is so soft, has lots of room in the chest, length, and waist. It would have been the perfect pregnancy dress and reminded me a lot of the dress I wore to my baby shower, but with pockets. As you can tell, it's really long and I wore it with wedges, but forgot to put them on for the pictures.

What do you like to wear when the season is changing? Do you dress for the season or the weather?

Shopaholic + Must Reads

 photo 2fe3f028664f7b1d9dae1cc587f5d3be_zps65d7e482.jpg

Question of the month: Lots of questions because it's the SHOPAHOLIC TAG!!

THE QUESTIONS:

1. Would you consider yourself a shopaholic?

I don't think I'm still a full-blown shopaholic, but my husband definitely begs to differ.

2. How would you classify your style?
Simple, comfortable, easy to wear. I don't really buy prints, but lean more to solids,  I love to layer and mix and match my wardrobe staples.

3. What store can you not leave without buying at least one thing?
Target! It used to be Nordstrom, but that was a long time ago I feel like now.

4. Where do you find the best deals?
Lately it's been Old Navy (and totally Carter's) using different online coupons I've found.

5. What designer are you willing to splurge for?
Michael Kors all the way, I love so many of their items. I'm eyeing a watch and putting it on my Christmas list for Santa.

6. Do you have a "go to" shopping outfit?
Dark skinny jeans, white tank top, and slip on sandals. It's something that easy to try clothes on with and see how they pair with the items I'm looking at.  Plus, with a tank, I can always slip a top or dress over it without having to completely strip down if I'm feeling lazy.

7. What is your guilty pleasure? (Aside from make up)
Nail polish and cream/ivory tops. I love cream/ivory, it's a softer white and can be worn all year long.

8. What is one staple clothing piece you cannot live without?
Dark skinny jeans- they just go with everything and are so easy to wear.

9. What is a trend you hope never goes out of style?
Tunic style tops! I love longer shirts, they cover my my tummy and are easy to layer.  Plus, they were great with my bump last year.

10. What trend did you love that passed way to quickly?
I can't really say. I've spent most of the past year pregnant and didn't get to try many trends. Usually, I think even if something is "trendy" if you wear it well, just rock it!

11. Who is your fashion icon?
There's so many, but I truly love Blake Lively's style. She always looks chic, she wears different pieces, and I adore her wardrobe choices both on the red carpet and her street style.

OOTD: Date Night

La'Rue Essential Long Sleeve Tunic - Charcoal
Forever 21 Skinny Jeans
Old Navy Booties
Sequin Clutch from Very Jane

This top is one of my favorites ever. It's long and soft and perfect for a cozy, chic outfit. I love how it drapes and how it feels like I'm wearing pjs. These boots are so comfortable too, I didn't have to break them in at all and I wear them almost daily. I've been dying to use this clutch more, but sequins are hard to wear because they can snag your clothes and if you put it under your bare arm it scratches. It's definitely something that's great to look at, but hard to wear.

Happy Hump Day!
