Major 2010 Trends...In One Outfit

Kim Kardashian has great style and is always "on" in the public eye. She could even be considered a fashionista, always wearing the latest everything and wearing it well.

What about when you just go for it and wear all the trends at once? Does "too much of a good thing" exist? I think so ladies. She did it in 2009 (see my post here) and now she's done it again with the 2010 trends.

Sexy cut-outs? Check. Asymmetrical dress? Check. Fierce shoulders? Check. Peplum skirts? Check. Yep, she's got them all there in this LBD:

In other Internet buzz, rumors have been swirling about Khloe Kardashian and whether or not she's prego. She and Lamar have talked openly about wanting and trying for children, but she's recently kept mum on the current status of it. She's also worn mostly baggy tops and conveniently poses with props in front of her waist to keep the buzz going. I saw this pic of her this morning... looks like it could be a baby bump or just an extra poofy skirt. What's your take?

Worst Dressed Ever?

You're young, pretty, have a hit show, what do you wear?? Well, Shenae Grimes wears almost nothing but black and usually looks like a hot mess. What is it with her and Annalynne McCord? I'm beginning to think that Shenae is one of young Hollywood's worst dressers.
Case in point:
PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

When scouring photos of her I could only find a few times when I thought she looked great.
PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

I would put money that her and Lindsay Lohan shop together if not trade clothes. Fashion is fun, exciting, expressive, it's not always about wearing what's on trend, but wearing what's best for you. It's about finding a style that you love, that is flattering, and makes you feel confident about yourself. They have people you can hire to help you find out what that is.

If Shenae were to ask me (you know, because my phone is just a buzz with celebrities asking me for advice and all) what I think she should do to up her style (if you can call it that), here's what I would advise her to do:

1. I get that you wear a lot of black, but start adding some pops of color with a bright belt, shoes, jacket, or clutch. It's one of the easiest things to do and can completely take an outfit from 0 to 10. **I'm not saying that all black doesn't look good, just that she needs to mix it up a bit.

2. Don't hide behind your clothes. Shenae is a petite little thing and a lot of her clothes over power her and you notice them before you notice her.

3. Take something off. Coco Chanel once said "When accessorizing, always take off the last thing you put on". Now, not that she meant that for everyday, but Shenae is often over accessorized. Hello, shorts, boots, torn tights? Too too much. Looking at the above pictures, often times the look could have taken a 180 if she had lost the furry shawl, the leather jacket, or torn tights.

4. Make-up is not separate from your clothes, but is part of the look as a whole. Your face and your body should never ever ever be competing with each other. Take a look at the first picture (try to ignore the fuglyness of the dress): the lipcolor was a poor choice. She should have instead opted for a punch of red like in the dress, or a great nude color (when in doubt, go nude). Also, her 80s eyeshadow is so distracting and too much with the bright lipstick. Because her dress has a very distinct pattern (the design isn't the entire dress and doesn't blend in like florals) her make-up should have been a light smoky eye with neutral lips, or simple eyes with a bright lip.

Any thoughts? Do you like her style? What advice woudl you give the PYT (pretty young thing)?

Lace, the Good and the Ugly

Photobucket

Good- Zoe looks great in this spring's hot nude color! The color looks divine on her skin, her bright lips look so juicy, and her minimal accessories are just right for the busyness of her dress. I love that her dress is classy and flirty at the same time with it's short hem and high neckline.

Photobucket
Ugly- Emma Roberts; you're young, I get it. You're at an age where you can definitely pull off a lot of stuff, but finding stuff that's age appropriate can be rough. You are not a cast member of Golden Girls! That lace jacket if heinous, and you're outfit would have been so cute without it too. Oh, and an FYI, you're gorgeous! Your hair and makeup could be taken down a notch as well.

What you do you think? Who wore lace the best? Have you bought any lace or nude items recently? Spill!

Matrix 4?

Photobucket
Annalynne Mccord must be one of Hollywood's WORST dressed. I just never see her looking very chic....ever. It just doesn't make sense either because she's gorgeous. If I were her friend, I would tell her to just stick to the basics.

The New Lead for Bad Santa 3

Photobucket

Riri, I know you're kind of in a transitional period with your style. I get that. Also, I know this is a costume and I'm all for costumes and wackiness a la Lady Gaga. Please get a new stylist though, you're gorgeous, a style icon, and a role model for many. There's no reason you should have a better wardrobe, in fact, just shop around in your current one.

Major 2009 Trends...In One Outfit

Photobucket
Exaggerated shoulders? Check
Lace? Check
Long-Sleeve mini? Check

Kim Kardashian has it all! However, I would definitely put this in my "Don't ever wear this, not even to get the mail" category. What about you ladies? Even though I don't always care about Kim (see here and here or even here) she's smoking hot 95% of the time, so I can't be too harsh on her. But why hide your gorgeous body with a dress that looks like it was made for a football player?

No Bueno Lindsay Lohan

I know that in winter everyone busts out their tights; sheer, lace, opaque, textured, and these past two winters they have been especially trendy, but I'm pretty sure that tights with runs in them didn't make the cut. What's your opinion (please disregard the fact the Lindsay is in need of a complete life makeover)?

Nevermind False Alarm For Leighton

Photobucket
I seem to have blogged too soon! I thought Leighton was oh so fashionable before, but now I realized she was just trying to sike me out. It's truly just so sad.

Kudos to Leighton Meester

After this horrible outfit, Leighton Meester is on her way back to the Fashion Do list after seeing her rock these looks:
PhotobucketPhotobucket
I knew white dresses would be huge this winter, have you bought yours yet? I have one I bought back in May that is appropriate for winter, but I haven't worn it yet. Maybe I'll get a chance with holiday parties. The second look would be really easy to copy with a sheath dress, booties, leather jacket, and a scarf. You could do the same color palette as Leighton or add a colored necklace, scarf, or shoes for a pop of color.

Please Don't Be A New Hair Trend....

Photobucket
Yes, Kim Kardashian looks hot (when does she not?), but what is up with her hair? It reminds me a little bit of Drew Barrymore's look from a while ago. Wasn't multi-colored hair in style (kind of) circa 2004? Plus, I don't think celebrities ever rocked it- they tend to look more classy and glamorous then edgy (depending on who you're talking about). I think it looks a little trashy, a bit cheap and I really don't like how she has three colors going on. Your thoughts? Have you ever tried multi-colored tresses?

Miley Cyrus Strikes Again- Totally Inappropriate

Miley Cyrus, who was recently voted "Worst Celebrity Influence" by teens reported by Us Magazine, kept it up this weekend with this outfit:
PhotobucketPhotobucket
First, pole dancing at the Kids Choice Awards, then a tattoo before legal age, and now a low cut shirt that's exposing her bra. Now, I'm not one to always be modest, but I'm not 17 either. I know there's not much difference between what a bra or swimsuit top covers, but it's how it's presented. I know I wouldn't want my teen daughter/sister/friend to wear an outfit like this to her next party and think it's appropriate.
What's your opinion? Do you agree that she's the worst influence?

Is This Really Appropriate? Round 2

Photobucket
Looks like Disney's favorite cash cow has gotten a new tattoo! The 17 year old was seen with "Just Breathe" just under her left chest according to People. Last week on Ryan Seacrest's radio show, they stated that it is a Cyrus tradition and once Miley turns 18 she'll get the family tattoo, but I can't recall what the family tattoo is of.
Personally, I think it's a little trashy. Couldn't they have waited until she was 18?? She's a role model for so many young girls I wish she would take more care of her image. It must be hard and somewhat of a burden to be a huge role model like that, but it's something you agree to when you cash checks from Disney. Just to be clear, I don't care one way or the other about tattoos, to each their own.

Oh No! It's Catching On!

Photobucket
I may have to reconsider Rihanna as a style inspiration after this...and this....and this. I know she tries all kinds of new stuff and looks different all the time, and I commend her for that, but lately her style risks have flunked. Fanny packs are just a Don't in my book, regardless of who's wearing it or made it. I know they make sense- it keeps your hands free, but I'm going to still keep my fingers crossed that they disappear.

Dear Leighton Meester,

PhotobucketPhotobucket
WTH? The majority of your red carpet looks are glam, sometimes you do have a few slip-ups.... but overall you have great style. However, just because you're on the verge of becoming a pop star does not mean you should ditch your Blair Waldorf headband.

XOXO,

Miss K

I Don't Even Know What To Call This

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Rihanna has been rocking this look for a little while now and I just don't know what to make of it. I love Riri, but what is going on with your hair? Your beauty and style is so cutting-edge, but I'm a little lost here. Any thoughts? Have you seen other ladies out there with this look?

It's Happening...

Fanny packs, one of the fashion worlds tackiest items is coming back a la 1989.

Up For Debate?

Over at Day Old News (such a great gossip blog- I love it!) had a new post about Zac Efron's celebratory party for his Nylon cover and had the following pic of one of my style icons Ashley Tisdale:
Photobucket
Yes, she always looks great, but here is where I have a question,

1. Is it still appropriate to wear shorts (especially cut-off denim ones) out after hours in November?
2. How do you feel about shorts and boots?

Are these Do's or Don'ts? Please advise!!

I currently reside in CA and although it is quite warm here, I just don't feel like I can still wear my cut-off shorts.Tailored shorts with textured tights? Yes.
Also, there's always a debate about shorts and boots, especially with Uggs.

What's your opinion?

Really Julianne? Really?

Photobucket
I don't even know what this is....Julianne could make anything look great. She has a body I would die for, gorgeous hair, and a beautiful face. You're even one of my beauty inspirations. This is what she wore to the "This Is It" premiere and I'm going to just believe that she got dressed in the dark. She has too many looks going on here. Sending my love and a lightbulb to you J!

Gasp! Someone is Shopping Taylor's Closet?

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Hmmmm... I think this dress overall is just a don't. Maybe belt it? IDK, I think it's a loss.

Fanny Packs Coming Back?

Photobucket
Fanny Packs graced the runway for Spring 2010 at the D&G fashion show. I've been waiting for these to come back, everything else from 80s has. One time during recruitment, my friend S. showed up wearing a Gucci fanny pack. We all told her she needed to take it off asap. "But it's Gucci!" she cried, and my gf A. informed her ever so diplomatically with "Ya, but it's still a fanny pack." We still tease S. about it today and she still has it and stands by her statement. I guess now she can wear it with pride (?).
