My Wishlist: Want, Need, Read, and Wear

Once I saw Jenn of Perfectly Imperfect post her wishlist, I knew I had to jump on the bandwagon. I've been waiting for Christmas all year long! Like I've said in some previous post, I love the holidays, but usually don't get all willy nilly for them until they're closer. Not this year. I've been waiting for Christmas since August. I've been listening to Christmas music all year long (never deleted my Christmas music playlist from my Ipod), mentally keeping a want list of my own and writing down what others have said they wanted during the year, and lighting my pine tree candle. Well, it's almost here! It's so close, I can taste the egg nog!

So here we go, I'm also copying Jenn's list with four items in each category. I mean, why not give Santa some options right?

I Tried It: The Plus-One Pedicure

New nails trends were featured in Glamour's July 2011 issue (with Blake Lively as the covergirl- love her!) and I couldn't wait to try out this trend on my toes. I even tweeted the look I liked it so much. I've been rocking the trend on my fingers for almost a year now (first blogged about it here when Vanessa Hudgens first rocked it) and thought it would look bomb on my toes too.

FAIL.

EPIC FAIL.

I'm not even going to show you a pic of my toes, because it's embarrassing. It just didn't look right and I felt like a child who painted each finger a different color. My H even thought I did it by mistake...along with everyone else. So this is definitely a no-go in my book. The trend looked great on glossy pics, not so much in person. Maybe it will catch on and grow on me though?

Also, I wanted to let you all know that I've upped my one-nail trend to two nails and like the look even better. It's perfect for giving the peace sign too because you get one nail of each color ha ha.

(see my OPI Shatter review here).

So ladies, would you rock the look on your toes? Do you do it to your mani? Do you think this Plus-One Pedi will catch on?

I'm IN Glamour Magazine March 2011!!

Remember this review of the Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen? Remember how my awesome manicure skills were featured on Glamour's blog The Girls of the Beauty Dept section here?

Well.....that same picture I submitted to them made the print!!! In the March 2012 issue with Diane Kruger (see her Celebrity Inspiration post here) on page 68 they have a little ditty about readers and my picture is there!! I was nearly screaming when I opened my issue yesterday!

I know it's small, it's only my hand and it doesn't have my name, but I'm super excited about it nonetheless!! I love Glamour and have been subscribing to them for years. Both their magazine and website are great for news, stories and products.

Thank you Glamour!!!

I Tried It/ Product Review: Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen

So this post is BOTH a I Tried It and a Product Review, which I think will sometimes happen depending on what look I'm trying to do and what not. Glamour had a post about Black-andWhite Striped nails and I loved the look! The ones from the post are Minx Nails, but I thought I could copy the effect with a nail art pen. It was a fun and bold look, and garnered plenty of compliments and questions. Definitely a fun look to copy! I submitted the picture above to Glamour and was featured on their The Girls of the Beauty Dept section here. So exciting, I love their magazine and their website! Thanks Glamour for featuring me!

Sally Hansen Color Quick Nail Pen Black

I bought the Sally Hansen Nail Art Pen in Black and thought it would be great to do stripes, polka-dots and hearts on my nails. It comes in 8 colors and is SO easy to use. You pump the pen a few times on a surface you don't care about getting the paint on and then the color flows just like a pen. It's really easy to handle and the color comes out great! The first time I used it (above picture) I did stripes, but they came out a bit runny when you look up close. I think it was just because it was my first time using the product and not a reflection of the pen itself. You need to top it off with a clear coat over your design and ta-da! Artsy fartsy nails.

I snagged this pen from a great sale at Rite Aid for buy one Sally Hansen product, get one free. I've been wanting this pen forever, but couldn't bring myself to pay $7 for it. I'm a cheapie when it comes to nail stuff sometimes, so sue me. However, seeing how easy it is to use, the great quality of the Sally Hansen brand I think it's a great price and worth the purchase.

What do you think of the striped nails? Would you be interested in seeing more of my nail art using this pen? Have you used art pens before? What brand did you use, did you like it?

My Mailbox was Overflowing

When I came home this week, my mailbox was seriously overflowing with magazines. Since they're the September issues aka the fashion issues for the fall season InStyle and Glamour were giant sized. Glamour is nearly double or even tripled it's usual thickness! Can't wait to catch up on all the September issues, lots of reading this month!

I got my first issue of Shape magazine too, I can't wait to dive in and get some new work out exercises!

What magazines do you subscribe too? What ones do you frequently buy?
