People StyleWatch and InStyle Inspirations

“This shop is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and People StyleWatch and InStyle magazines but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #PeopleInStyle http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO

Whoop whoop! I am so excited right now. Two of my favorite magazines have just come out with their December issues AND at Target, if you buy both People StyleWatch and InStyle magazine you get a $5 Target gift card! I have subscribed to both magazines over the years and have bought both forever. The September issues are of course one of my favorites, but dare I say, I think I love the holiday editions more. All of the holiday fashion, glam, and gift guides really suck me in.

This weekend after picking them up, I experienced my first Christmas miracle: time to myself! Everyone was asleep and I somehow still had energy to stay up and relax. It was glorious! What's more perfect than a lit tree, your favorite magazines and snack, and your baby monitor showing your sleeping beauty. I reveled every minute of it.

People StyleWatch has a feature in their December issue highlighting wearing skirts over the holiday and I couldn't agree more! Skirts are perfect for any party, can be worn with tights for extra warmth, and you can go sexy, flirty, or edgy with them. My closet doesn't have that many flirty skirts (mostly pencils) so I immediately started looking online and fell in love with this pretty one. Here is an outfit that was inspired by that article and the skirt I found. For a night out, pair a textured skirt with an embellished top, add some glam earrings,  and metallic heels and you're ready!

In both People StyleWatch and InStyle had a lot of features for gorgeous accessories and beauty trends and since I've been on a jewelry kick since being pregnant, I had to put together some of my favorite looks inspired by the issues.

I think with any season, the extras are what make your outfit. They're a great way to jazz up what you already have in your closet, dip your foot into a new trend, and can be very budget friendly.  Jeweled headbands or pins can be worn so easily with your hair up or down. InStyle featured a deep-berry mouth and this Black Cherry shade is gorgeous! I'm on the hunt for that lipstick and have been to two Targets that have been sold out! Jeweled necklaces really are a neutral for me now and are so much easier to wear than I initially thought. Glitter polish is an absolute must for the holidays, and a staple for me.

This year, I really want to do more with my hair, I feel like I'm always wearing it the same way (down and curled) and want to really branch out in putting it up more. The darker lip is another trend I'm dying to try. I've been hunting up and down the beauty aisles trying to find the perfect pucker color. Any suggestions or favorites of yours?

What are you looking to wear over the holiday season? What are your favorite trends right now?

My bubble necklace finally came in from GroopDealz and I went with the blue! I love it and can't wait to wear it again. It's really noisy though when I walk, I feel like people can hear me coming!

I've been dying to wear this knit sweater this season. It's short sleeve, but it has a cowl neck and long so it's perfect to keep you warm, but not hot. I found it a few years ago at Forever 21 after being on the hunt for a similar look I saw Blake Lively wearing on Gossip Girl. I paired it with my favorite wine colored pants and my trusty Steve Madden boots. I think this is my new favorite winter outfit.

This past week, my work celebrated our end of year party with a winter carnival theme. I worked the cotton candy machine all day and ate it until I was about to burst!

I love when you're not sure about what to wear, make, or style your hair and inspiration just hits you right in front of your face at the right time. Thanks Instyle for helping decide what to wear out for a night on the town!

InStyle and People Style Watch

I think my love for magazines is apparent. My top two favorite that I HAVE to get month to month is both InStyle and People Style Watch. I rely on these two magazines for the latest fashion and beauty news. In both magazines I find a lot of inspiration for blog posts, fashion, beauty, plus they have the best features like celebrity looks for less and products at all price points for trend items.

This week through Friday December 7, when you buy both InStyle and People Stylewatch together Target is giving a $5 giftcard! Hello. Add to cart. The summer, fall, and holiday issues are always my favorite, and definitely a must-have in my book.

My hub works Saturday morning, so it's the perfect time for me to catch up on my girl stuff. This past weekend I swooped up the most recent issues and dived in. Like I said before, the holiday issues are one of my favorites! All the glitz, glamour, and holiday gift ideas have me starry-eyed.

Here are some of my favorite features in each magazines, and images that inspired me that I hope to recreate on my own:

Each People Style Watch includes a breakdown of their cover girl's style and beauty. This is one of my favorite features! Little styling tips that are the celebrity's signature, easy ways they always look put together or accessorize. The dress above in the bottom corner, a look for less, is from LC's line at Kohls! I'm en route to check it out asap, it would be the perfect holiday dress!

Changing up your hair style can be the easiest way to update your look with little cost. I love having new ways to do my hair, little things I can perk up an everyday style, and make a ho-hum outfit looks feminine and cute. Plus it's good to have some go-to do for bad hair days. Polished ponytails? Perfect for day after curls that are messy from a night's sleep!

Theses are the holiday hair looks I plan on re-creating. Both should be simple enough, yet a completely different style than my usual. I'll definitely post pictures of how it turns out!

I've been a subscriber to InStyle for years! It's on my Christmas wishlist each year and is the gift that gives all year round. The beautiful ads, celebrity interviews, and of course the beauty and fashion trends keep me coming back for more.

A newer feature to the magazine that I'm all over is their Inspired by Instyle! section where readers send in pictures of how they recreated looks from past issues. Um. That's half my OOTD, nails, and hair looks I've recreated here on the blog. I love seeing how other women interpreted what they saw into their every day lives. Sometimes seeing how they created the looks help me to find a way to create them myself in my own way.

Man of Style is another article I look forward to each month. It's always hot actors with new projects out and include some of the sexiest pictures. This month features Eddie Redmayne of Les Miserables (which I'm seeing day after Christmas if it's the last thing I do!) and he's my new man crush. Each article also includes little pieces of what women who've worked with them have to say, and always includes a little secret from the set! Then, of course, an article on their personal style.

I'm so happy I read this over the weekend! Saturday was my girlfriend's birthday celebration and I had no idea what I wanted to wear. It was rainy and cold, so I didn't want to wear a dress, when I saw these Perfect Party Pairs, I knew right away what I wanted to wear: my liquid leggings, black heels, a basic top, and a statement necklace. Thanks InStyle! Made my life so much easier. With printed pants making such a huge statement right now, this article has the perfect pairings for the holiday parties! Then I love pairing Jazzy Tops with just Basic Jeans. Something about the mix works so well for a night out.

I'm pretty sure women everywhere love Carrie Underwood. Her hair and makeup are ALWAYS perfection. I was so excited to see her featured in this month's Beauty Talk. She talked about her beauty routine in her teens and her fitness regime, then my favorite part- her beauty must-haves. I was pretty stoked to see we use the same moisturizer (Olay Complete) and nail polish (OPI Bubble Bath).

What is your favorite sections of magazines? What magazines are your must-haves? Do you find a lot of inspiration from the articles?

My Wishlist: Want, Need, Read, and Wear

Once I saw Jenn of Perfectly Imperfect post her wishlist, I knew I had to jump on the bandwagon. I've been waiting for Christmas all year long! Like I've said in some previous post, I love the holidays, but usually don't get all willy nilly for them until they're closer. Not this year. I've been waiting for Christmas since August. I've been listening to Christmas music all year long (never deleted my Christmas music playlist from my Ipod), mentally keeping a want list of my own and writing down what others have said they wanted during the year, and lighting my pine tree candle. Well, it's almost here! It's so close, I can taste the egg nog!

So here we go, I'm also copying Jenn's list with four items in each category. I mean, why not give Santa some options right?

My 5 Style Icons

The other day I was flipping through InStyle's September issue and got to thinking about style. They feature one celebrity's top 10 best dressed moments (this month it's Emma Stone) and I usually always agree on their chosen outfits (although, I do think they miss one every now and then). I love this feature and think it's fun to see someone's best fashion moments.

I started wondering who I think has the best style- someone who looks fabulous day to day and from year to year. There are so many gorgeous women in the world and I love seeing what they choose to wear. Celebrities have so much at their fingerprints and events of all occasions to wear exciting new items. I thought I'd feature who I think always looks the best and has best style all around.

So after much deliberation, here is my top 5 women who I think always look amazing. These five look gorgeous at every event and I would love to raid their closets and have their hair! I wanted to do a little blurb about each one, but the reason I love each of their style is the same: they always look feminine, classy, sexy, and push the trends without ever over-doing it.

Blake Lively

Kate Middleton

Emma Stone

Mila Kunis

Miranda Kerr

Aren't they gorgeous? Don't they always look stunning? I think these women will always look that way too, style stays with people, it doesn't just disappear after a season (or movie promo trail). Their looks will still look great in years to come. What I love about their style too, is that it doesn't seem like they're trying too hard. They care about what they wear, they choose pieces that flatter themselves, and they're just working simple pieces in a mega way.

Who do you think are today's style icons? What do you think of my picks? I can't wait to see who you choose!

F21 Top
F21 Shorts (from this Recent Purchase Post)
DV Sandals (from this Recent Purchase Post)
I finally wore my new DV sandals! I love them!
They're so comfortable and I got so many compliments on them.

I also just wanted to show you guys my hair, I've had these pearl pins for-ever and just finally wore them for the first time after seeing an article in InStyle Magazine about pretty hair accessories and how they're so "in" for Spring.

For my hair, I had already had my hair curled from the previous day, teased the heck out of my crown and pinned the sides back so I could get my hair to lay the way I wanted to before putting in the elastic. Then I teased small sections of my pony for extra volume. So easy to do!

My Mailbox was Overflowing

When I came home this week, my mailbox was seriously overflowing with magazines. Since they're the September issues aka the fashion issues for the fall season InStyle and Glamour were giant sized. Glamour is nearly double or even tripled it's usual thickness! Can't wait to catch up on all the September issues, lots of reading this month!

I got my first issue of Shape magazine too, I can't wait to dive in and get some new work out exercises!

What magazines do you subscribe too? What ones do you frequently buy?
