New Nail Trend for Fall

My dear friends, I saw this on Glamour's website of my girl Vanessa Hudgens, and could have just died!

(All pictures from Glamour)

See how she matched her ring finger nail to her toes?? It's the cutest idea ever!!

Do you always match your toes to your fingers? I don't usually, sometimes I'll do the same color family, hot pink on my toes with light pink on my fingers, but sometimes I'll rock two completely different colors.

I think this is such a fun, cute, and creative way to change up your nails without being too crazy-like the pointed nail trend I still keep seeing around but have yet to jump on the bandwagon for.

As long as your two colors are complimentary, I think is is such a cute idea, I just have to copy Vanessa for myself for my next mani pedi.

Earlier this year I saw a similar trend really quickly on Gossip Girl where Blake Lively's character was in the back of a cab and she had white nails with only the ring finger nail decorated. Because I'm a GG stalker, I searched all over the internet to get a picture of that specific scene, but it was always too blurry and trying to capture it correctly online was just ridiculous. So I never posted about it, but did run out and paint my nails like that ASAP.  I've since done my nails like that on and off, but forget to snap a picture. So, I did a quick example this week for you ladies:

So what do you think? Do you like Vanessa's look? Would you wear this? Do you think it will catch on?

Celeb Inspiration: Vanessa Hudgens

One lady's style I definitely covet would have to be Vanessa Hudgens. She dresses as such a free spirit, so boho, but still put together, I just adore it. I would love to shop her closet, but knowing me even if I do I still wouldn't pair things together the way she (or her stylist) do.

Here's a few things I notice about her look: she usually keeps her hair loose and wavy, she plays with proportions- hello skinny jeans and flowy tops, a great outfit making bag, and heels. For the red carpet, she loves showing off her amazing legs with short short hemlines and sky high heels. Swoon. This has to be my favorite combination for a killer look. She also keeps her accessories subtle, an armful of thin bangles, a few long and simple necklaces, or one of each.

Do you love her style too? What do you love best about it? What do you like least?

The Summer Styles I Want

Summer and Spring are my favorite seasons, it's warm, shorter hemlines emerge, slushies move to the forefront pushing hot chocolate to the back, vacations begin and love is in the air. For this summer, I want a fun, classy and feminine look to emerge and I plan on going through my clothes in the next two weeks to sort through and donate unwanted items. I'm no longer in college and in two weeks I'll be on the downhill of my 20s (I've already started my sobbing). Here are looks that I've been loving and plan on dressing similar too by wearing my old stuff a different way (maybe altering some sleeves, hemlines, maybe taking in some seams and getting "new" skinny jeans?), wearing different accessories, etc. and adding some key pieces to my wardrobe. This will all be in addition to my Spring 2010 Fashion.

One shoulder dresses/tops

White is hot year round and I love one-shoulder cuts (I already own several items this style) I did find a similar one to this on Lulus, but I'm afraid it might make me look prego. Also, this is a great cut for me and anytime you can wear a bra it's a plus in my book, even if it's only one strap.

Using leopard print to punch up my outfits

I love bright colors and adding a leopard accessory is a quick pick me up to any outfit.

Feminine, dressy tops with shorts

Swoon! I'm so in love with this 70s vibe, the floral shorts are super cute and the first top would look great with jeans, skirts, or shorts. I love the second look, so classy and fun *don't forget the heart sunglasses! Hilary Duff's outfit would be the perfect date look or afternoon BBQ.

Hats!

I own several fedoras (I was (still am) really into Britney) and need to make more use of them!

Cleaning out my closet and seeing what I already have I'm hoping to re-utilize and shop my wardrobe to create a lot of new looks. Have you started your spring cleaning? Have you switched your winter wardrobe out? What looks are you excited to wear, new and old?

Orange Crush

Photobucket

Here's Amber Valetta at the premiere of The Spy Next Door rocking a hot mini and I've heard that orange will be a new "it" color for summer and I'm all for it! Orange is such a fun vibrant color and I think it's time it gets a little bit more attention. A few years ago, all I wanted was a fun orange dress for my sorority's semi-formal, I looked everywhere for an orange dress, but to no avail- it just wasn't a hot color at that time. So, I did what any fashion forward girl would do and I designed and had a dress made. It has to be my favorite dress I ever wore! It fit perfect and made me stand out and was so much fun to dance in....until I had a fashion mishap anyways.

Here's a pic of my dress from that night back in 2007:

You might think that orange isn't for you, but don't pout just yet! Everyone can wear a shade of orange, you just need to find one that fits your skin tone and hair color.
Here are some examples of gorgeous ladies all rocking different shades of orange:

As you can see, these ladies looked great in both bright and light orange colors, regardless of skin tone or hair color. The key to pulling off orange is finding the right tone, whether it has a pink or golden undertones. Don't know your skin tone? Which color looks best on you, gold or silver? If gold looks best, you have a warm skin tone and can pull off the more vibrant orange colors. If silver looks best, you have a cool skin tone, lean more towards the yellow hued if you have light hair or the orange-brown colors if you have darker hair. If you're too shy to go all out, try an orange bag, scarf, or headband to add some color to your outfits.
How do you feel about orange? Do you wear a lot of it? Are you looking to wear it this summer?
