Product Review: Sally Hansen Color FAIL!

Back when I bought Petal Pusher, I also bought Quick Sand. I was so excited to try them both and Petal Pusher was a HUGE hit. See my review here. Quick Sand is a pretty nude color with shimmer/glitter in it.

Why do my feet look so chubby in pictures?? I swear they're not! Usually shoes are too wide for me

I finally got around to using it and I'm so disappointed! The quality and color of the polish was perfect, I still love the Sally Hansen Insta-Dry line, but the color looked so horrible on me!! I only kept it on long enough to snap a picture of it for you dolls. Then I promptly changed back to Petal Pusher.

I think I need nude colors with more of a pink undertone. I'm pretty sad about it, because the color is gorgeous!

The color is a pretty camel shade, but I think it's better suited for people with darker skin.

What do you ladies think? I'm going to pass it along to someone else, maybe my sister or mom?

Yes, No, Maybe So?

Two-tone hair has been coming around the past year, LC and other celebs had this look last year, my mother says roots are in that all the celebs have them, buuuuuttttt what about drastically color two-toned hair? Maybe the ladies are taking a more relaxed role in their hair upkeep?

Personally, to me, this can easily look a bit trashy, kind of reminds me of people on reality TV where I just wonder to myself "You know you're going to be on national television, why didn't you get your hair done or buy a $5 box of color from the store?".

I like it better when there's more of an "ombre" look than drastic- like your tips are naturally that light from the sun.
Here's an example:

Here are some notorious obvious root celebs (and the reason why my mom thinks showing your roots is in style):

Now, I AM NOT trying so be superficial here, obviously your roots show in between getting it done. I know I don't have the $$ to get my hair touched-up every two weeks or so, but some ladies like it when their roots show. Jennifer Aniston and Madonna just have about and inch or less of roots, but what about the ladies who have roots going down to their ears and it's an obvious light vs dark war?

Here's my point and what I want to know from you;

Do you like this look?

Do you have your hair like this and love it?

Is this a growing trend where you live?

Product Review: L'Oreals Extra Intense Liquid Pencil Eyeliner

For eyeliner, I use a pencil on my bottom eyelid and in my waterline (the inside of my eyelids) and am happy with what I've been using, but I read about this L'Oreals Extra Intense Liquid Pencil Eyeliner in a post Veronika did here and thought I'd give it a whirl after her rave review. What sold me on her review is that the liner lasted all day on her waterline even after working out. Woohoo! Just what I need!
L'Oreal Extra Intense Liquid Pencil Eyeliner, Black 798 1 ea

So, I used my $5 off coupon at Ulta and bought it in black. I must say I did like the texture and hue of the pencil.
Here's how it looked:
Photobucket
However, this pencil DID NOT last on my waterline. At all. In any way. I put it on at 6:30AM and it was nowhere to be seen by 9AM. Total bummer. I don't know if I didn't have the same results as Veronika because maybe my eye is more watery than hers or maybe because of something with me wearing contacts, but I was pretty disappointed in the product. It did last all day on my eyelid, but so do the other pencils I've tried. For $8.49 I'd say it's not worth it for the pure use of your waterline, but if you don't wear it there then this product may be great for you! I just haven't figured out how to use it when it wears down, there's nothing to twist to move it up and you can't sharpen it...at least from what I can tell, and I'm too scared to try. LOL! Or maybe what's there is what you get. I did see that Covergirl has a new Liquid Pencil Liner as well. Maybe I'll give it a whirl in the future.

Have you tried this liner before? What was your experience? Have you found a liner that works on your waterline? Do you know if you can sharpen it (seriously, I'm still trying to see if you can)?

PS My eye doctor has told me (on more than one occasion) that you shouldn't wear eyeliner on your water line because it blocks your tear ducts and can cause an infection. I try to only wear it on nights out.

Worst Dressed Ever?

You're young, pretty, have a hit show, what do you wear?? Well, Shenae Grimes wears almost nothing but black and usually looks like a hot mess. What is it with her and Annalynne McCord? I'm beginning to think that Shenae is one of young Hollywood's worst dressers.
Case in point:
PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

When scouring photos of her I could only find a few times when I thought she looked great.
PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

I would put money that her and Lindsay Lohan shop together if not trade clothes. Fashion is fun, exciting, expressive, it's not always about wearing what's on trend, but wearing what's best for you. It's about finding a style that you love, that is flattering, and makes you feel confident about yourself. They have people you can hire to help you find out what that is.

If Shenae were to ask me (you know, because my phone is just a buzz with celebrities asking me for advice and all) what I think she should do to up her style (if you can call it that), here's what I would advise her to do:

1. I get that you wear a lot of black, but start adding some pops of color with a bright belt, shoes, jacket, or clutch. It's one of the easiest things to do and can completely take an outfit from 0 to 10. **I'm not saying that all black doesn't look good, just that she needs to mix it up a bit.

2. Don't hide behind your clothes. Shenae is a petite little thing and a lot of her clothes over power her and you notice them before you notice her.

3. Take something off. Coco Chanel once said "When accessorizing, always take off the last thing you put on". Now, not that she meant that for everyday, but Shenae is often over accessorized. Hello, shorts, boots, torn tights? Too too much. Looking at the above pictures, often times the look could have taken a 180 if she had lost the furry shawl, the leather jacket, or torn tights.

4. Make-up is not separate from your clothes, but is part of the look as a whole. Your face and your body should never ever ever be competing with each other. Take a look at the first picture (try to ignore the fuglyness of the dress): the lipcolor was a poor choice. She should have instead opted for a punch of red like in the dress, or a great nude color (when in doubt, go nude). Also, her 80s eyeshadow is so distracting and too much with the bright lipstick. Because her dress has a very distinct pattern (the design isn't the entire dress and doesn't blend in like florals) her make-up should have been a light smoky eye with neutral lips, or simple eyes with a bright lip.

Any thoughts? Do you like her style? What advice woudl you give the PYT (pretty young thing)?

Product Review: Ulta Eyeshadow Review

Last week, Ulta had a sale on their home brand makeup and I loaded up on some great eyeshadow shades that are regularly $7 and on sale for $3.

Photobucket
I bought Molten, Lustre, Truffle, and Silk.

Photobucket
I was the most excited for Molten, it's a chocolate brown with gold shimmer. It looked gorgeous when I tested it on my hand and looked even better on my lids the next day.....at least until 3pm anyways. That's about the time the eyeshadow randomly disappeared in patches. Now, I don't have oily skin and only have a problem with fading eye shadow with less quality products. I gave it another shot, but with MAC Primer under and it lasted the night. Overall, its ok (but should definitely be worn with something to help it stick), but I think its worth the extra cash to get better quality shadows.

Do you wear Ulta brand makeup? What shades do you like?

What brands are you loyal too? Nearly all of my eye shadow is MAC and the ones I use the most are; Typographic, Print, Hoodwinked, Romp, and Phloof.

Please Don't Be A New Hair Trend....

Photobucket
Yes, Kim Kardashian looks hot (when does she not?), but what is up with her hair? It reminds me a little bit of Drew Barrymore's look from a while ago. Wasn't multi-colored hair in style (kind of) circa 2004? Plus, I don't think celebrities ever rocked it- they tend to look more classy and glamorous then edgy (depending on who you're talking about). I think it looks a little trashy, a bit cheap and I really don't like how she has three colors going on. Your thoughts? Have you ever tried multi-colored tresses?

I Don't Even Know What To Call This

PhotobucketPhotobucket
Rihanna has been rocking this look for a little while now and I just don't know what to make of it. I love Riri, but what is going on with your hair? Your beauty and style is so cutting-edge, but I'm a little lost here. Any thoughts? Have you seen other ladies out there with this look?

Quick CMA Beauty Round-Up

Photobucket
Jennifer Nettles wins best dressed....by a landslide. CMA attendants- please hire a stylist. I must say though, there was quite an improvement from previous years.
LeAnn Rimes- This is a definite DON'T. What were you thinking?
Photobucket
LeAnn, I suggest you hightail it over to the glam squad of Carrie Underwood. Doesn't she always just look gorgeous?
Photobucket
Oh and dear Taylor Swift, I love you, but you need to switch it up. I'm ready to see you with pin straight locks.

How Not to Dress for a Premiere, but Look Like a Pirate

Annalynne: Leather is going to be big this fall, do you have something leather I could wear now?

Stylist (who should be fired if she has one): Oooh I have a bra and corset that will be so hot!

Annalynne: Great! I want to wear some tight sexy pants too and high boots.

Stylist (who should be fired if she has one): I have just the thing!

Annalynne: Oh and I definitely want to have a Madonna vibe going on as well.

Stylist (who should be fired if she has one): Lace gloves?

Annalynne: Awesome. I need something studded- that's been everywhere on the red carpet.

Stylist (who should be fired if she has one): Ok. Hmmmm....We're missing something...... I know! Lets get a Rihanna pointed nail tip too.

Annalynne: That will pull the look together perfectly!

Stylist (who should be fired if she has one): You are so ahead of the game.

Note: By "ahead of the game" she meant by 2 months, Halloween is in October honey.

PhotobucketPhotobucket

Jessica Lowndes: Ummmmm, maybe my stylist could work with you for the next event?

Annalynne: What are you trying to say?

Photobucket

PS Her makeup is fabulous! I nearly didn't recognize her she looks so glamorous!

The Jury Is Out

Now, I love Rachel McAdams. I've seen all of her movies, I teared up when I heard her and Ryan Gosling broke up, my girlfriend A. and I often refer to her as "Sister McAdams" because if she had gone to our school and joined a sorority- it would have been ours, and I'm going to see The Time Traveler's Wife this Friday with T.

However, I just don't know how I feel about this dress. Her make up is beautiful (I really love her blush), her hair looks great, but is the dress too low? I've never seen her wear anything so sexy before, so I think it's wonderful that she's stepping out of her box. Maybe it's because I see the dress and think J.Lo and not her? I must applaud her excellent use of fashion tape though. What are your thoughts?

A New Nail Trend

A new trend brewing is long pointy nails, a la Freddy Kruegger. Rihanna and Beyonce have both been sporting them lately, and although these ladies are always right on with the trends and crreating new ones all the time, couldn't they have skipped this one? I'm not really feeling it.
Photobucket
Photobucket
I tried to get a better picture, or crop these ones, but it didn't turn out so well. If you look really closely at Beyonce, you can see that hers too are also pointy and gold- which metallic is going to be a huge trend this fall. What do you think? Would you wear the dagger-like nail?

Some of This Week's Best Dressed

Photobucket
Really casual and preppy, I'm loving her boots!
Photobucket
This dress + the makeup are beautiful!
PhotobucketThe purse and shoes really step up the outfit, it's casual with a touch of class. Now I just need to find an affordable copy of her leopard bag....
Photobucket
When does she ever not look stunning?
Photobucket
I love most of what Nicole wears, but she is so glowing in this outfit. Does is come in non-maternity?
Photobucket
My idol growing up is all grown up and looking HOT!
Photobucket
Love this color on her!
Photobucket
Her shoes are killer!
And we have those who missed the mark:
Photobucket
I have no comment on this, it's so horrible.

Poor (Beauty) Decision

So for my quarter century bday I've been spray tanning all week at home and have been trying to defend myself against orange blotches and streaks.

I've sprayed in circles and rubbed in the spray all over my body while immediately rinsing my hands afterwards. There were a couple of times that I was a little more tan (orange) in some parts of my body, but I was able to scrub them away with a wash rag.

The big day comes and I want a nice shimmer glow so I mixed my Mac Bronzer Loose Powder with lotion in 50/50 amounts and rub it on my arms, legs, chest, and upper back.

I look awesome!!
Until I go outside in the always too truthful sun where my DIY bronzer is streaked EVERYWHERE!!! So embarrassing, luckily I was going to a dark bar where the drinks flow abundantly. However, be this a formal event, I would have high-tailed it back in side and added more lotion to blend.
