Celeb Inspiration: Hilary Duff

Hilary Duff has been around for a long time and has grown up in the public eye. Her style has also grown and is easy to copy. She dresses to her body type and shows off her figure with body hugging ensembles and never forgets to add an accessory...or three. Not only does she mix up her style between sweet and edgy, she also mixes up her hair color and style often.

Pencil Skirts: So easy to wear, regardless of your body shape, and perfect for a night out on the town or for the office. Hilary wears her with perfection, always mixing it up for a different look.

Holy Scarves Batman:  Ok, this is only a sliver of the images I found of HDuff wearing scarves. This woman knows how to really make the most of a scarf, wearing it casually and dressy. Scarves are so easy to wear with layers and the perfect accessory for a chilly day.

Casual: Duff's casual style is simple to copy- all you need is a great pair of jeans and shoes! She tops even her most basic tops with cute heels to take the outfit from ho-hum to fabulous. The last picture is my favorite with her dressing up a pair of denim shorts so chicely.

Red Carpet: Hello sparkles! Hilary always shines with her glamazon red carpet choices. Again, her shoes are the perfect pair for her outfit.

What do you think of Hilary's style? What's your favorite look?

Any suggestions for future inspirations?

Product Review: MAC Powder Blush- Pink Swoon

I've been on the hunt for a different blush recently, just wanting to switch mine up from my usual MAC Blush Two Virtues (see my post about it here) or Sunbasque, but I wanted to try something that looks more natural and less shimmery. I first heard about MAC Powder Blush in Pink Swoon (buy here from MAC) when Carrie Underwood wore it on her wedding day- doesn't her make-up look amazing?? Then I kept seeing the same color pop up all over blogs, magazines, etc. I even read that this is a shade Kim K uses often and since she and Carrie have cheeks that are the perfect pale pink with a flushed look I thought I'd go for it.

*Sidenote, I did say that my next blush purchase would be NARS Orgasm, but I just love this shade of pink! Maybe I'll buy Orgasm when I'm out of Pink Swoon

Here are the swatches from MAC and Nordstrom's websites. It really looks like that bright pink shade on the left IRL in the pot, but it is such a soft color on, just like the picture on the right.

Here it is on me:

I just love it!! it's the perfect flushed look and looks VERY natural. The first day I wore it, I got two compliments from co-workers, one of which is a (very straight) man!! Nothing was special about my make-up either, just my usual eye shadow and make-up routine, the only change was my blush so I knew I had a winner!

As for a review, this is a great shade for various skin tones. It gives a perfectly flushed look, like you just walked up a flight of stairs or blushed because of a cute boy. It's very sheer, and easy to build color. There's no shimmer in it, but layers well with MAC Irridescent powder (see my review of it here). It retails for $18.50, so it is more than your drugstore find, but worth every penny!

What color and brand of blush do you wear? Do you ever switch it up?

Halloween-themed Baby Shower

My good friend K is expecting her first child- a boy!- this winter and some of us ladies threw her a good Halloween-themed party to celebrate! I'm so happy for you K, N and H congratulations again!!

The party was so much fun and the mommy-to-be made out pretty well and will be up and running when the baby arrives! Also, everyone of all ages dressed up and it was a great time all around!

Mommy-to-be and I (I'm a flamingo!)

This is my friend N and she's a flying squirrel- totally awesome.

Best mother-daughter costume by far!

This little girl wasn't at the party, they just had her picture on the fridge and I had to take a picture of it because it was the most awesome Avatar costume I had ever seen!

The details:

Here's my gift, I'm so proud of it and was just delighted to give it to her!

Hot Man Parade! Men In Suits Round 2

*Disclaimer: Some of these pictures have been hanging out in my "Hot Man" folder for a while. I thought about deleting them based on age, but then realized that these guys are too hot to be dismissed while looking so refined. So, as a bonus, I added a few extra pictures than the usual Hot Man Parade posts offer. I hope you all enjoy. Happy Friday!*
