I love all desserts; cookies, brownies, chocolate covered anything...and I especially love cake! Traditionally a cake is served at a wedding, but recently it's becoming the trend that the cake is only for show and the newlyweds are serving another type of dessert. I've seen tons of cupcake towers, but I think they're wearing out their welcome for alternative dessert tables such as candy buffets. All-white cakes have been everywhere, I see them all over the wedding sites and at every wedding I've attended this year. Another new trend I see is a cookie or brownie bar. Yummy!
The Fiance and I have gone back and forth about what type of dessert to serve. We know that you can serve both a cake AND something else, but it's just not in our budget...unless Krispy Kreme Donuts makes a donation anyways. Hint hint. We've decided on the type of cake and it's filling, but I don't want to give it away! Hehe, you guys will have to wait!
As for look and design of the cake, we're still exploring our options. We still have plenty of time, but I like to plan ahead. Here are some of my favorite cakes that I've found online. Please note that I stuck to conventionally decorated cakes, I know there are all kinds of ways to decorate cakes, but didn't want to touch that base:
All white cakes: They're classic, but can still be updated with new textures and accents. My favorite ones, and the kind that I'm leaning towards the most is the plain white with textured sides like the first two pictures.
Colored cakes: This is a good idea if you need a splash of color, you can add some "traditional" white accents. This is also another way to incorporate your theme or wedding colors.
New ideas for "cakes": I'm so in love with these cakes! I think they're so fun and a great way to set your wedding apart from others. I like how these brides took an unconventional route for their cakes using cookies, rice krispies, donuts and pancakes.
So bloggers, friends, and new readers, what is your opinion? What cake do you think is the prettiest? What did you have at your wedding? What cake have you seen at a wedding that you just loved? Anything I should steer clear of?
I'm in LOVE/LUST with these pajamas Leighton Meester's character Blair wore in this week's episode "Easy J" on Gossip Girl. I've trolled the internet trying to find out who makes them and where I can buy them, but have had no luck. They're the perfect combination of feminine and masculine and look oh so comfy!
Do any of you know where they're from or where I can get a pair similar?
For this Wednesday, instead of a Celeb Inspiration focused on fashion, I thought it would be fun to do a post focused on beauty. How do you like them apples? If you don't care for this post, let me know! I don't want to do posts you lovelies aren't interested in. Please feel free to give any comment, criticism, suggestion etc in a comment below or in an email for future ideas/posts.
To start it off, I chose someone that most of you will probably be on the fence about: Kristen Stewart.
I chose Kristen because she's not the typical stereotype for Hollywood. Since she's new to the red carpet scene, she's grown a lot in terms of beauty and fashion... if we could only get her to pose a little bit better. What I admire most about her beauty looks is her edgy, bit vampy style and that she's not a beauty robot. Not all of these looks are something I would try and copy myself, but she really rocks them well. Especially for being more of a tom boy, her make-up choices have been a perfect reflection of her personality and style.
Take a look at her make-up at the screening of her new movie Welcome to the Rileys, I'm just swooning at the old Hollywood glamour of it. This is my favorite look so far and what prompted me to do this post to begin with. She's really working both her eyes and lips together isn't she? Perfection.
Doesn't she look stunning???
Here's some other beauty looks of hers I also adored:
Kristen switches from playing up her eyes and wearing a bold lip, never forgetting to have a soft blush for her cheeks.
What do you think of Kristen's beauty choices? What would you like to see her do next?
I know, I know, I've already done TWO posts of other Sephora Palettes To Go (see them here and here), but I just can't help myself when it's such a great product. It's like that basic piece of clothing you buy in every color because it goes with everything and is so easy to wear.
Plus, Sephora will donate $1 from the sale of this product to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Why the heck not right? You can buy it here from Sephora's site directly. Sidenote; you can also get a travel size Benefit Cosmetic High Beam To Go for $10 online only. I bought this with my purchase and can't wait to give it a whirl, review coming soon!
Here's a look at the shadows:

As always, the Sephora shadows are perfectly pigmented and last all day. Theses pictures really don't give them justice. Sephora is quickly becoming my favorite brand for eyeshadow, and they're such a great price and delivers great coverage, color, and quailty.
Have you tried their make-up brand? Do you like it? What brands do you use?
Check out Kim Kardashian's hair when she went out with Ciara for lunch:
It looks like she just did an upside down braid down the center. I like it! It looks really simple, keeps your hair out of your face, and is a different look than the usual braided bangs down the side that's been so popular lately. I think that this look would be best for long thick hair and would be so easy to copy!
How do you do an upside down braid you ask? When braiding your hair, instead of crossing the hairs over each side you simple cross them under instead.
What do you think of the braid? Do you like it? Are you going to try it? Do you think it will catch on?
Here are some more pictures from our engagement shoot, you may remember the sneak peek from this post with Kipp and from Shiny Things Distract Me. This was such a fun day and we love the pictures we have from it. Thank you again Kipp!
