My New Favorite Show (and Obsession)

It's On With Alexa Chung

It's a new talk show on MTV (weekdays at noon) and she is so fresh and hilarious! Her show is setup to have 3 interviews and a run through of celebrity news and new internet videos, and performances. The show also integrates Facebook and Twitter - fans get to ask the guests questions or dares. This is great because I believe that Alexa really cares about her audience and wants to include them in her show. Alexa also plays fun games with guests such as "Interpretative Dance" where the guests have on headphones and have to dance out a song and let the audience guess what song it is based on the dance, or "Will You Pet It?" where the guest is blindfolded and an item is described to them and they have to pet it and figure out what it is, "Truth or Dare" is another favorite as well. I like Alexa's great attitude, how she asks fun or unusual questions of her guests, her crazy hair, and I especially love her games. She's really funny, a model, vegetarian (she doesn't "eat anything with a face") and she's from Britain-I love listening to her accent and how she speaks. My sister and I spent all night Friday catching up on her show and laughed so hard! I recommend this show to everyone!
So far my favorite interviews have been Ashley Tisdale, Jim Sturgess, Daniel Radcliffe, and Cameron Diaz. You can check out more and Alexa's highlights here

Say What?!?

I'm a HUGE Gossip Girl fan! My Mondays are completely dedicated to the show and I won't even watch it on DVR, but must watch it live. Blair is my absolute favorite and I can't wait for this season to start with her and Chuck together!
Did you hear the news though? Chuck is going to have a gay smooch!! O.M.G. You can read all about it here, Blair sets up Chuck with an advisor at school to help her snag the Freshman speech. I guess in the books Chuck swings both ways, but that side of him has never been featured on the show. What do you think about that? Have you read the books?
The show premieres Monday September 14!
Here's some pics from on the set:
PhotobucketPhotobucket that's Leighton Meester's real life brother!

I love Blair's makeup and dress here (I'm a sucker for ruffles) and she's wearing a necklace like the new Tiffany's Keys

Who Wore It Best?

I have the same dress as a celebrity! Don't you hate it when that happens?? JK!!
Here's Karina Smirnoff wearing the dress in yellow, and myself wearing it in blue (that's my friend A- the lovely bachelorette).

Leading Men Photoshoots

Have you seen the latest GQ with Ryan Kwanten (True Blood's Jason Stackhouse)?? He is gorgeous! You can see all of the pictures and read the article here.

Here's a pic of Zac Efron just because I forgot how pretty he is sometimes.

The Ladies of Melrose Place are on FIRE!!

One shouldered anything and long sleeve mini's are going to be huge this fall! They've both made my must-have shopping list and I've been keeping an eye out for great finds. What do you think of the looks? I'm usualy not a big fan of Ashlee, but she's really stepped it up this year!

Loving These Looks

When does Posh not look good? Even when she wears weird stuff, I think she still looks great. There must be something about her....alien maybe? Or maybe it's just her team of stylists and make-up artists? I love gray, it goes with so much and can be worn year round. Her fedora is so chic too. Side note: little Romeo is so adorable- check out his teddy bear he's carrying!
I'm drooling over this look Emmanuelle Chriqui wore, the only piece I'm missing to recreate it is a blazer (but it is definitely going onto my shopping list). Plus her ponytail looks stunning.
Who else could rock acid wash denim like Ashley Tisdale?? Again with the gray too! AND she's sporting my new love (the studded purse)
However,'re beautiful. You always look stunning...however, your hair au natural is no bueno. Sorry, but the truth hurts.

Great Find!

Remember that leopard print purse Halle Berry had last week that I was drooling over???? I found a great knock-off at Target for $20!! Score! It's not as great as Halle's, but I'm also not shopping with her bank account. I found a patent one at some little shop at the mall, but it wouldn't even hold my phone and lip gloss so I had to push on. This one works for my budget and it fits my phone, keys, camera, and lip gloss- all the necessities.

The Jury Is Out

Now, I love Rachel McAdams. I've seen all of her movies, I teared up when I heard her and Ryan Gosling broke up, my girlfriend A. and I often refer to her as "Sister McAdams" because if she had gone to our school and joined a sorority- it would have been ours, and I'm going to see The Time Traveler's Wife this Friday with T.

However, I just don't know how I feel about this dress. Her make up is beautiful (I really love her blush), her hair looks great, but is the dress too low? I've never seen her wear anything so sexy before, so I think it's wonderful that she's stepping out of her box. Maybe it's because I see the dress and think J.Lo and not her? I must applaud her excellent use of fashion tape though. What are your thoughts?

My Best Beauty Advice

1. Heat up your eyelash curler with your blow dryer for 5-7 sec (make sure to test it first so you don’t burn yourself) before curling your lashes. The results are life changing. I swear.
2. Put lotion on your body the first 3min you are out of the shower to really absorb the most moisture. Your pores are open from the hot shower and will help you get the softness you desire.
3. Then spray on your perfume! It will last longer with the stickiness from the lotion
4. Do you have a cowlick? I do, and I help it lay down by blow drying it flat in the direction I want it to go and then pinning it in place to cool. Hair “sets” as it cools, not just how it heats up (keep this in mind when curling your hair).
5. For a flushed look, put on your blush then apply a sheer powder on top. It will look like you just fell in love and are all glowy. I apply mine after I use liquid concealer so I’m still a bit sticky but not sticky enough for the powder to just glob all on one spot (this works for cream blush as well).
6. Oily but don’t have your powder with you? Use a toilet seat cover to soak up some oil. It’s nearly the same as those oil sheets, but they’re free. Yay for your wallet!
7. Washing your face with a basic wash cloth helps to remove grit and clean your pores. You will be amazed at the amount of makeup you’ll find after you’ve “washed” your face using just a face wash.
8. Clear mascara can double to tame both your eyebrows and fly away hairs.

9. I find that curls last longest when you curl from the top down and not vice versa. Place the curling iron where you want the curls to start and then start curling the hair into the iron a little bit at the time. When you're done, it will look a little Curly Sue, but hairspray and then brush out the curls using your fingers.
What's your best beauty advice? Please dish, I'd love to hear it!

Another Reason Why I Don't Watch the News

Did you know that your sandals could kill you?
Yep, you read that right.
Two reporters from New York Daily News tested their flip flops after walking around the city for four days and found that the rubber shoes picked up about 18,100 bacteria! That's 18,100 bacteria! Blech. One was even a deadly one! Staphylococcus aureus, and Scientists say that it can cause skin infections just from contact. But, they say, if it enters the bloodstream and goes undetected, it can kill you. Dr. Charles P. Gerba -- professor of microbiology at the University of Arizona -- says that 93 percent of flip flops will have fecal bacteria after three months of wear, and 20 percent will have E. coli. Thank you KTLA for your ever uplifting updates.

A New Nail Trend

A new trend brewing is long pointy nails, a la Freddy Kruegger. Rihanna and Beyonce have both been sporting them lately, and although these ladies are always right on with the trends and crreating new ones all the time, couldn't they have skipped this one? I'm not really feeling it.
I tried to get a better picture, or crop these ones, but it didn't turn out so well. If you look really closely at Beyonce, you can see that hers too are also pointy and gold- which metallic is going to be a huge trend this fall. What do you think? Would you wear the dagger-like nail?
